Default Purchase Vag-Com?

I was thinking about purchasing a VAG-COM. That way I can keep up to date with what my car (and my sisters car) is doing. I wont have to rely on the dealer telling me the truth about what is wrong with my car.

So, how do I go about buying one? I found the Ross-Tech site ... but???

Heh ... help much appreciated.

You can contact the guys from Ross Tech directly if you'd like. They are pretty responsive (closed during the holidays). There are a couple different versions for you to pick from. Kinda depends on what you are looking for. The newer VW's (~05+) use CAN and need the later VCDS (correct name for VAG-COM) hardware (look for CAN in the description). From there it depends on USB or serial (USB or COM).

You can then buy it direct from their site and download the software. The unit has the license built in so the software will know you have the rights to use it.

I bought the HEX USB unit because I don't have any newer VWs and probably won't for a while, but if I was to order one now, I'd go for the HEX USB CAN model:

It does cost a decent amount, but its so worth it. When you think of what the dealer charges for a scan, it pays for itself very quickly.
