Past few weeks I've had a few issues that delayed my wiring project. Completed most of it today, made an aluminum bracket to mount fusebox, rebuilding wiper assembly now, once done will install. Kind of a hodge podge mix of new and old switch assemblies, the original screw style switches are hard to come by and are pricey. Does'nt matter to me not doing a concours restoration.Only have a few connections left then I'll install a battery. Once this is done and the car does'nt burn down I will finish fuel lines and see what "the beast" has to say.

Thank you that's what I'm going for with everything neat and clean. Not building this as a show car but I don't want to have to redo anything. Once and done, works for me. This will be a driver no trailer queen. What's the point in building something you can't enjoy driving?

It's Alive! Well finally got to the point of firing the "Beast" up. Yesterday I attempted to start it, found I made a bonehead mistake and fried the compufire ignition module. Had the ignition wire connected to wrong terminal of coil . Anyway you live and you learn the importance of double checking your work.$75 mistake. This morning I swapped out the compufire with a set of points and a condenser. Turned the key and it was like, the "Beast" roared to life like it had never been asleep. This is going to be one incredible ride, throttle response is amazing and it just plain sounds awesome. Hopefully will be road ready sooner than I had hoped, will try to post a vid of it's maiden voyage down the road.

Told him it was my fault totally and he still offered to cut me a break. Stand up guy for sure, can anyone say customer service. Vacation starts Monday anyone care to guess what I will be doing? Might hit the Turkey Rod Run this year also, been wanting to go for many a year now.

Are you talking about the Turkey Run at the St. Johns flea Mkt. this Saturday? Vern, and myself are gonna be there- I think Chuckie too. Hope you'll join us.

Was gonna stop by the other day, but one of our drivers is on vacation and I had to cover for Him- getting back late pretty much all week. I'll see you by the weekend for sure. I wanna hear the Beast fire up!

Whenever you get the chance, all it takes is the turn of a key. Actually was thinking of the TRR in Daytona, but may show up for the one in St. Johns

Well I missed the VW Turkey Run at the St. Johns flea Mkt. Had out of town company, my wife's older brother popped in unexpectedly. Always nice to visit with him, worked on the 56 a bit, got a couple small fuel leaks I'll need to fix. Installed the rear shocks and threw in a seat. This morning I fired it up and drove down the road and back. I have come to the conclusion I have built a giant go cart. Thing rides just like one! Did'nt really get on the throttle much( was praying I had remembered to tighten everything!) did get on it a bit in 2nd gear and from what I can tell it's going to be quick lol.
I think I may have created a monster..........

very ture... glad to hear that people still build them to enjo them rather then make something that just sits there...

After a few runs up and down the road I think I've finally got the shifter right.Been working on installing the fenders and completeing the light wiring, good so far got 1 taillight brake and turn signal, going to complete front headlight and turn signal wiring 2moro, hopefully will be able to undercoat other rear fender as well and install it along with finishing the wiring then it's interior time. Looks like that's going to be a challenge in itself, but it will be worth it. Closer to realizing this project complete than ever b4.

Well got all the fenders on need to mount 1 taillight assembly, fixed one minor fuel leak at the fuel tank need to address the one on the carb. Hopefully 2moro I can go get some automotive jute padding and start on the interior install. May work on the carb fuel leak after completeing the taillight install. All this and helping out the wife with housework. Isn't vacation great? I especially enjoy the housework, but I'm doing what has to be done.
