Default Dealership

Dealerships are often maligned here on the Org, and rightly so in many instances, but I thought I'd share a positive today:

A couple of weeks ago, I stopped to get some VW odds and ends at my local dealer, as well as to get some new recall coil packs. One of the items I wanted was a pack of round floor mat rings to replace the oval ones that were in my mats already; my car needs the round ones. The grommets weren't in stock, so I asked them to just mail them (I'm an 80-mile round trip away).

When the rings arrived in the mail, alas, they were the oval variety. After a call, they apologized and promised to mail me round ones. Today when they came, I thought the package felt a little heavy. The rings were there (yes, they were round), but also was this nice, big heavy Volkswagen mug. On the box it said, "Sorry for the inconvenience. Enjoy!!"

I thought that was a nice touch, not to mention good business sense.

By the way, if anyone needs any oval grommet/fasteners, please PM me. You can have them for what it costs to mail them.

I would agree that is excellent customer service and good business sense! My dealer sent me a nice card after I bought Daisy and they have always apologized profusely when they have made a mistake (couple times).

Nice mug, BTW. I haven't seen that one before.

Niiiice! I am glad the YOUR dealership took care of you, and made a bad situation right. My dealership here, has a bunch of MORONS working there. If you get mad at 'em they will fix you right up, but that is AFTER they screwed something up royaly. I think their intentions are good (most of the time) but it doesn't compensate for a lack of intelligence. SERIOUSLY.

That is why I go to Coribug's dealer, if I have to do business with a dealer ever again. Ft Collins is a bit out of my way, but I get to see Cori, AND the dealer is good.

KUDOS to your dealer!

Wow, that was so thoughtful of them and I really like that coffee mug. I'm glad your dealership cares about their customers because mine sure doesn't. I go to the dealer only as an absolute last resort, like last year when I needed a new key. Any other time I need work done on my NB I just go to my wonderful mechanic who is less than 3 minutes from my house.

That's very nice. I'm glad your dealer is thoughtful like that. It makes a world of difference. Especially since most of us are anti-dealer.

I'll share another good dealer experience. Didn't happen to me but I thought it was nice.

Matt just got his new Passat wagon. In Georgia we have emissions test, in Michigan (where we bought the car) they do not. The original owner ignored the CEL thinking it was due to his chip. Well come to find out there is an emissions issue So, trying to fix it ourselves, Matt went and got a new gas cap at Jim Ellis VW in Atlanta. That didn't fix the issue. So we went to Pedro (local VW guru - that the DEALERS use! lol) and he tricked the system to turn off the CEL and to pass emissions. Which it did....EXCEPT the gas cap check. So we put the old cap back on and viola - it worked. So Matt when back to Jim Ellis and explained the cap was defective or something. And instead of just getting his money back, he would rather get something else, since Jim Ellis really isn't all that close. So, the dealer messed around with the price a little and Matt was able to get all 4 brand new VW emblems for his wheels for the return price of the gas cap!

So, to me that says the parts department are fairly decent people....can't say much for service, but at least I know where to go for parts if I HAVE to go to a dealer. lol

I'm hoping this economy is teaching these dealers about customer service a bit. But who knows.

Nice cup!
I wish my dealer was that nice. But, I haven't been there for at least 3 years.

I've been eyeing that mug for awhile, it's nice!

I had a tire replaced that I messed up on a curb.
I printed the exact tire from Tirerack.com and they matched the price plus S & H. Saved me a few bucks.
