Hey Chels! Feel free to ask away about my weight

I have lost 39.5 pounds so far. Now I started a bit of a low weight. I'm snacking on some low calorie popcorn right now. Yum yum!

I use the LoseIt! app on the iphone, check it out too for funsies (little orange scale)

I don't have too many before and after pics, I plan on putting a big hoohah thing together when I'm almost done. I think I might make a tshirt to wear around all day telling people I lost 50 pounds ahahaha

You're doing good Chelsea!

I ran ten miles saturday, and went on a two hour hike sunday with some friends.

My legs feel like jelly, but it's a good kind of burning sensation.

I was thinking about you when I ran. I'm going to try and find some way to record my runs around the lake, for my own development and also to share with others.

I mean, let's be honest, this is painful at first. It helps to share the pain so to speak. It keeps everyone motivated.

Over the weekend (well, Thursday) my rideshare broke up with ber boyfriend. I've been that strong shoulder all weekend. Anyway, she called me last night and said that she wants me to pick her up at 540am and take her to work with me at 6. She started in the gym at 615 with me today and she's loving how she feels (despite getting 2 hours of sleep the night prior).

Since it's SO warm out, I totally want to leave at 4pm and go home and RUN around the lake instead of using the treadmill.

It's all about finding what works for you and what you can keep up with. With time people who want to change will gravitate to you for guidance.

Don't stop!! 318.8 is fantastic, I know you can see the change start and I am certain you feel it. Just wait till you've GOT to buy a new belt, it's the best feeling ever

As of this morning I'm still at 275, I'm hoping to build up to running the lake 6 days a week... I think pushing myself so hard and then doing upper body today will kick up my metabolism yet again and let me break that 270 pound barrier.

We can do it. Just gotta stay strong and keep a fresh playlist.

Training Log for Running, Cycling, and Triathlon | dailymile Great site for sharing your work out activity. Really geared mostly for running, but you can track other work outs as well. If you don't know the actual distances of your run, you can actually plot your starting / ending points (and various points along the way), and it'll calculate it. Won't work real well with trail running, but still.

Also, if you're getting serious about outdoor running, a Garmin watch is ESSENTIAL. They're pricey, but definitely the absolute best tool I've ever purchased for working out. It's dead on with mileage. Tells you your current average pace. You can even setup pace alerts that'll warn you if you drop below a certain threshold.

I can't stand indoor running and avoid it at all costs. The treadmill is the worst, but even the track at the gym sucks. No matter what the weather, I prefer to run outside. If you dress appropriately, you can run outdoors all year long. I've been out there when it's 5 degrees and snowing. It takes a little getting used to, but once you do, it's no problem at all. And beats the heck out of the boredom of running inside.

I know I'm capable, I wore my FiveFingers in the wintery slush snow crap we got. I wore them in DC during their freeze in early Jan.

I'm just not used to actually running yet

I will look into the garmin watch. Between the pedometer in my friend's phone (A SonyEricsson) and the published data on the trails, I've got a good idea of the distance (it's right at 5 miles total). The alerts that I drop off are pretty neat.

I was actually going to ask a friend of mine whose always eager for a coding project to see if we could lay the groundwork for an Android application that could use the pedometer, accelerometer, and other sensors in conjunction with the music/playlist function.

My thinking was taking a long track (something trace-y) and having the program detect points where you should speed up or slow down, and get the device to vibrate a certain number of times to indicate the pace change. Naturally logging, distance, speed, time, etc would all be calculated.

So the answer I have is... such a device exists, so it may not be worth the programming effort.

I truly hate the treadmill. Somehow the elliptical is less of a drudgery, but the treadmill... ugh.. i hate it.

Admittedly, I do like treadmills. The one we have is on its way out, so it'll be replaced soon. The new models are so much nicer than the old ones, and quieter to boot. However if I have the time and the weather is good, I'll be outside on my bike.

There's no apostrophe before an 's' when you're talking about the plural version of a word. "I took some neat photo's!" is NOT correct.

Wow, girl! You can see a big difference in your face! Keep up the good work!
I definitely know what you're going through. It's easier (def still not easy, just easier) to get it off now while you're young and your metabolism isnt fighting you as much as it will 15-20 years from now. I lost a lot of weight when I was 17/18 and then slowly packed it back on and then some. I was stupid to think once I lost all the weight I was "done". It's a life long battle for me...one that will never be over.
You look great! You should be very proud of yourself, as I'm sure you are! Make sure you reward yourself!
