Thumbs up Weight Loss Journey....

Hey guys! I've decided that I'm going to start a weight loss plan. I really want to make it happen. I've tried before and got discouraged and stopped, but this time Its different. Newbeetle is the only website I have to check everyday, and I want to share this with you guys, any support you can give or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Kind of embarrassing, but I have to post it.

Start weight: 339

Goal Weight: 160

I started yesterday on the Atkins diet, and I'm only drinking water. Everyday I plan to walk/jog/run whatever anything for an hour and gradually take it up.

awwww...... you've got such a nice smile!!! You can do it, I've been on Atkins twice, once after I had my daughter, and now back on the protein wagon, LOL

The first 3 days are hard, but after that it gets MUCH easier...
If you want a buddy, I'll be happy to volunteer, I'm still 35 lbs from my weight goal, which is going quite slow lately...

Good luck! And keep smiling...

-Stacey

You can doooo eeeeeeeet!!

One tip is: make sure you get rid of all the junk food in your house! No cookies or chips or ice cream! Instead, fresh fruit, nuts, vegies.

I'm rooting for ya!

Yes, and also, I had to get rid of all the sugar and bread in the house too, which was way hard for me, since I'm German and grew up around my uncle's bakery...

Here's an awesome website for recipes other than the Atkins site:

The Low Carb Cafe - Recipe

There's tons of yummy snacks and treats to be had on Atkins, splenda will be your new BFF... good luck on Induction!!!

I echo Jillie's comments

You can Doooooo eeeet!!!

I lost some weight recently and understand your desire to do so. Sounds like you've got a plan in order which is a major step. Stick to your plan and don't get discouraged. Hubby is in your corner and us orgers are there with you too.

you're doing water, execllent!! Little to no breads is a big help also. You're exersising so you're well on your way.

Moderation is also a big key- that was and still is a tuffie for me. GO GET EM TIGER!!!!

you are very courageous for creating this thread! i dropped 80lbs about 9 years ago and i'm still keeping it off...mostly due to an improved metabolism and i still try and make healthier choices all as part of my LIFESTYLE CHANGE....i'm betting you've heard that before though....

im my case, my weight loss consumed me. quite literally as a matter of fact. i would weigh myself 3 times a day. now i am quite meticulous when it comes to just about anything, but i'm telling you, it's the most honest way to show yourself exactly how much you weigh. keeping in mind one needs nutrition and hydration, your overall weight should not be varying upwards of 2-4lbs daily....ie: youre able to make the scale move for you.....

if you really put your mind to it, it can be done. persistence pays off, but its got to consume you enough to change your life.....

good luck on your journey....

I lost 60lbs a few years back by making small changes in my diet and eating a lot of bran.

Make sure you have a really good digital scale. I got one made by EKS and it's the only 100% repeatable digital scale I've ever found. Also if you have an iPod touch or iPhone there's an app called WeightBot that actually makes tracking your weight fun and it motivates you to keep that little graph pointing downward.

Good luck on your journey! My fiance is working to get back into shape right now. Going to the gym 3 times a week and we're eating much better. No real weight goal for him (although he has lost 10 pounds since he started!) since he is putting on a lot of muscle. He just wants to feel better and look better. He more has a goal of a pant size to fit into!

One thing that is really helping us out a lot is cutting sodium. Its very, very hard to do and you will find yourself craving it a lot when you first start reducing it. But we picked up a low-sodium cookbook and make a recipe out of that one or twice a week at least. It even tells you how to make your own dressings and sauces (we LOVE the pasta sauce recipe from it). We're going to be making meatballs and pasta sauce out of that book tonight or tomorrow in fact But cutting the sodium and also soda have done wonders. Again it is very difficult, but it has lowered his blood pressure significantly and its making it easier for him to lose weight.

You'll be shocked at how much sodium is in EVERYTHING. But there are ways to work around it. Use herbs for seasonings (we use oregano and basil a lot now) instead of salt-based seasoning. You'll discover a lot of new and amazing tastes that way!

A couple things that may help. Check out Burn Fat, Lose Weight, and Gain Muscle - DailyBurn They also have an app for the iPhone. Great site to keep track of what you're actually eating. They have TONS of foods in their database with all the nutritional info.

I always feel I eat well, and I work out a ton. But have never looked the way I'd like. So I'm finding this is a great way to keep me honest. And you can check the logs of what you eat. So if you have a week where you "thought" you should have lost, you can always go back and see if maybe you cheated more than you thought.

Healthy eating and proper exercise is critical to a long healthy happy life. However it doesn't always mean 'thin'. Just saying she doesn't have to focus on size to be healthy or beautiful.
