Default Life is getting better all the time

As some of you know, I've had a rough year. Lots has gone wrong, but things are finally looking up. Just this week, I got my dogs back after my ex broke into the house three months ago and stole them from me...a year after she left me and we had agreed that I would keep them. The divorce is nearly final as well so it will be good to finally have some closure and her out of my life.

Other exciting news as well. I started my job 15 months ago, as just an entry level CADD Tech. But after lots of hard work, i have learned a lot and taken on more and more responsibility. I found out this week that I am being promoted to Engineering Project Manager. Terms haven't been discussed yet (formal review is upcoming) but I expect a handsome raise.

And for the icing on the cake, I've been talking to someone new for a few weeks now, and we finally went out on a date last night. She is very sweet and a lot of fun, and I can't wait to see her again.

Great news all the way around mang!

Props to you for riding the storm out. As painful and aggravating as things get, it pays off when you persevere, grit your teeth if you have to, keep looking up and forge ahead.

All the best to you! Thanks for the good news

Lol...I like that idea.

I had actually changed the locks. Her name was still on the deed, and she still had her old ID, so she technically had the right to enter. She called a locksmith and got in, then took a spare key I had hanging on the hook.

One day later, the "settlement" papers arrived. She claimed all sorts of my property as marital, trying to get an almost 10k equalization payment on top of requesting alimony... for which there was no cause. No kids, married less than three years, she had been surviving on her own (well, shacking up with her boyfriend) for over a year and she had money to hire an attorney. Plus I could hardly support myself. She was also claiming that I had been neglecting the dogs which is ridiculous.

So needless to say, i hired an attorney, was lucky to find one who had a soft spot for dogs and who was willing to work with me on payment. All it took was one letter from my attorney for her to realize that her goose was cooked. That didn't stop her from trying more stuff. I stayed home from work one day, was napping downstairs when I heard the door open. Went to see, and there she was with her boyfriend... boy was she surprised and ticked off. She tried to tell me to leave, because I was "violating the no contact order" (long story for another day). I refused because it is my home and I had done nothing wrong. So she called the cops and lied through her teeth to them, but after talking to me they basically told her to go away and not come back, or else the next time she would be charged with harassment.

Based on stuff i heard her say to them, I'm pretty sure the only reason she drove 3 hours to come to the house was to trash it and take photos as "evidence" of me neglecting the dogs. I wouldn't put anything past that borderline b!tch.

Long story short, she finally gave up and the nightmare will finally be over now. And I have my boys back, which makes me a very happy guy. And now I installed combination deadbolts on the doors, and security bars on the two windows at ground level so she would have to kick the door in to get into the house. Plus her name is coming off the deed so then she could be charged with B&E on top of criminal harassment.

Sorry for the long vent session, had to get it out of my system.
