Looks cool, but I just don't get that WOW factor like I did with the previous new beetles. It kind of looks like the vw tiguan in the inside.

Wonder of these automatics will be any more durable? Personally I prefer my 5-speed, but my wife wouldn't think of anything other than automatic...

It's gotta have a 6spd manual option.

Right...I was just wondering if the automatics had gotten any more reliable on the later models, or if it's too early to tell.

so hopefully they offer some decent colors now.
I don't think they will be...I played around on the German VW site, and they only had a few colors. And no real fun colors either. So unless the US is more daring... :/

Here's the German VW site, where you can play around with building one...

Those are my pics. I saw it at the Vortex Media Group (VWvortex) open house on Saturday (May 14)

Other cars that were there on loan from VW were: Golf R (only one in the country right now!) and the 2012 Passat, which VW was filming a commercial for at the event. I was filmed a bit for the Passat spot, but who knows if I'll end up in the spot or on the cutting room floor!

The bug is on loan to VMG from Volkswagen for a while. It's the same exact bug that was at the Chicago Auto Show.

They have already modded it with the Forge intake and lowered it 2 inches with H&R coil-overs.

...it's weird seeing my pics pop up all over the internet! LOL (It doesn't bother me though.) I just wish I took more pics of it, especially the interior. the sunroof is HUGE compared to the New Beetle. It's very wide and it doesn't slide into the roof... rather the sunroof slides out and above the roof to make a slight wing. There's a mesh privacy screen under the sunroof, so you cannot completely block out the light like you can on the New Beetle.

I just realized that I didn't even sit in the rear seats either!

I'm positive that Vortex will have the car on display at other local events in the Chicago area before the we start seeing the 2012 Beetle in showrooms; I'm sure it will definitely be at Midwest Treffen since they often sponsor that show. So I'll take more detailed pics if I get the chance and post them up!

I like!

I'm guessing the carbon fiber goodies on the intake in the engine bay are coming standard?

Wish we could get one of these out to Roswell for everyone to drool over.

The guys from Vortex have modified it with a Forge twin canister cold air intake and they have replaced the stock suspension with H&R coilovers with the car lowered by 2 inches all around. It can go lower too, but for the event, they didn't want it looking too extreme.

Ahhh - they were an add...too bad.

Jimmy D.,

I think you meant the New York Auto Show, not the Chicago Auto Show.

Just sayin'.....

And of course, the pictures don't do the car justice. I'm liking it much, much more now that I've seen it in person.
