Here comes all of the "special editions" just like before with the New Beetle; its good marketing to get people excited and sell those beetles! I am looking forward to a "R" Beetle; I hope they come out with a true performance bug and make it even better then the "S", more in the vein of the "RSi"! We can dream; can't we?

There is something missing. A link to the pre-order screen. The page you captured and put up must have the link, but the link you put up doesn't. It appears to be a sheet that was emailed to "Kenny". Any help here? I am seriously considering.

Everyone should note this is the base price and significantly does not include any options, nor does it include shipping, dealer charges etc.

The pre-order starts tomorrow so the site isn't up yet, but if you click around, you'll get to the VW pre-order page, which isn't active yet.

It is a souped up Beetle. Its got the 2.0T and a sport suspension. I'm sure it will say what other items it comes with once you can get to the pre-order page. Seems pretty sweet to me.

From VW Vortex: The 2.0L has a standard six-speed manual transmission, with the option of Volkswagen's DSG© dual-clutch automatic transmission. It takes the standard equipment found on the 2.5L and adds Bluetooth® technology, iPod® connectivity, three-color ambient lighting, larger brakes with red calipers, a "kaeferfach" additional glovebox that is similar to that of the original Beetle, sport seating surfaces, 18-inch alloy wheels, a rear spoiler, foglights, three additional gauges on the dashboard, and alloy pedals.
The Beetle comes standard with the RCD 310 sound system with eight speakers; an optional premium VIII audio system features a CD changer, interface for SD cards, and a touchscreen. The Beetle will also offer concert-quality sound with an available Fender® Premium Audio System, designed exclusively for Volkswagen. In a partnership that combines quality automotive engineering and quality sound engineering, Volkswagen and Fender have teamed up to bring the raw emotion of live music to the driving experience.

While true that price doesn't include other features you may want, its pretty well equipped.

Also interesting that the base 2.0T is $300 less than a base GTI. Its certainly going to be interesting to see how sales do once the car comes out...pricing seems pretty decent. Hoping the 2.0TDI prices are reasonable...

At current time, I probably won't be pre-ordering. I'm going to wait until next year to see what the themed editions are they were talking about, as well as the Beetle R (RS?).

I may just end up keeping Sting and making him a one-of-a-kind bug
Hey Buddy, thanks for that bit of info. I think these will be gone, and real quick. Only considering it as an investment, and I would need to order it with every available option. Potato (*Mod edit* Don't try and get around the censors), I wish they had at least a little more info.

My fears are many. VW will not shut it off after receiving 600 orders, but rather take all that come. After all, not all will go through with the purchase, many will not be able to come up with the cash or financing when the transaction must be completed. They will then dictate how many go to each market, by dictating how many each Dealer will get (based on your zip). The Dealer will then been able to ADD his charges (clearly states these are not included), which many times involves a premium charge beyond the MSRP, as is typically done with high demand and low supply like the Vette, and like the Camaro and Challenger when they were released.

I would need a confirmed order that I can start marketing immediately (ideally I would have it sold before it's delivered). Looking for a short term v. long term investment, as to own and drive it, the investment worth is 20+ (or more) years down the road. (Want to make some money, not pass it along to my heirs! lol)

Thumbs up Thanks!

Thanks, that's what I was looking for, and couldn't find it with Google. Seems when you try to pull up the Terms & Conditions link, "the site is temporarily closed"!

And as my luck has it, will be traveling tomorrow and won't have web access until late tomorrow evening.

Question Profit? At a huge gamble!

But I suppose the people that buy them at the raised price KNOW they are paying too much and that's their own fault for being so desperate for a new car huh?
"But I suppose the people that buy them at the raised price KNOW they are paying too much and that's their own fault for being so desperate for a new car huh?" - Exactly. But do you really think, that if this car becomes in that high of demand, between now and when they are delivered, every buyer is not going to pay an exaggerated price well over the already exaggerated MSRP. (I'm only guessing those so mentioned "Dealer charges" are only going to become known at the time of finalizing the paperwork. Not a great way to buy a car, with a non-refundable deposit and an unknown purchase price. The very reason I would like to see the written "Terms and Conditions".

C'mon Stephen, the rest sounds as if it's directed at me! LMAO By your own admission, you're not interested in one of these! And, no, I don't think there will be a lot of people gambling like this. Consider, for me to sell the car, before I have to close the deal and be saddled with the additional TT&L, and then having a vehicle that is used (I would be listed as the first owner), I have to find a cash buyer or one that can obtain his own financing (seldom will he better, or even match, Dealer financing), and sell it a profit that makes it worthwhile for me (would be a lot easier if this were a high end car). If I can't, I either have to forgo my $495 deposit, or complete the process, and ultimately probably take an additional loss (the couple grand TT&L, and a chunk of used car depreciation, regardless of the 0 mileage). And buying one of the 600, doesn't raise the price, The factory's invoice is the same to the Dealer regardless, and the amount any Dealer can sell for, over and above the MSRP, is market driven at the time the cars hit the Dealer's lot, in his given territory.

And I really don't want to have ownership to the car. I stopped buying new cars many years ago, when the 20%-30% depreciation hit, driving it off the lot, reached the dollar amounts that are involved today, so I'd probably walk away from my deposit, and make the car available to someone else in my market.

Now, if I could get VIN [...000001], or if they were a "numbered limited edition" and I could get #1...

M.

So, yes, it'll suck to see everyone else zooming around in the new 2.0 Turbo, while I put money in the bank, and hope that I can eventually afford one while getting disability due to this mucked up spine of mine
Well, there is one thing FOR SURE, you won't see me tooling around in it. But most importantly, from your posts and our private correspondence, I know you are a smart and savvy Gent. I know you have better sense than to buy a new car. Just throwing away money, and you know it. Way better to buy a one, two, or three year old one and let someone else take that major finacial hit. Leave it to the people that don't care, for the sake of having a "new" car, or impressing others at their own expense. Or simply have nothing else to do with their hard earned cash. I work too hard for my money!

Hey now.... watch your mouth

How does the saying go??? The more things change, the more they stay the same??
case in point....

I remember when the 98's came out and how people were paying thousands over sticker to be the first to have one. I also remember when the PT Cruisers came out; the base models were selling in Jacksonville for 30,000- no joke.

As for me, I'll wait. Even if I were able to pre-order one, I wouldn't. I'd rather keep the cash of an over-inflated invoice and use if for something more tangible.

From what I'm seeing and reading, there's nothing special about the 600, other than you'll be one of the first 600 to get one. As Big Mo said, if the VIN# was 000000001, that MIGHT be another story. Other than that, I can exercise a little patience, and wait. Heck, I'm sure I could be fortunate, like I was with Cup, and find a B3, used, under 10,000 miles on the clock, some of the depreciation knocked off the sticker, with a good chunk of warranty left. I'll get an extended warranty, an motor down the road in my B3, with a heavier wallet to boot.

Still, it's cool to see a vibe in the air over the 2012 Beetle

Did I read that wrong? It's not a SE limited to 600? Gotta' go back and look closer! Thanks for the info, if I misinterpreted that. Would change the whole thing!

Welllllll, I guess after a fashion it IS special. Special in that you'll be one of 600 folk to get the beetle first, along with some of the options.

From the list of options that I see, they're options available to buyer 601, and beyond.

Again Big Mo, i'm with you on the VIN#, but i'm sure B12 (Hey that's a cool moniker) VIN#00000000000000001 is already next to the last final edition nB.

Then again I am only one man's opinion. What I consider not all that, others will think different
