Default Slug Bug rules?

I'm sure all of us NB drivers have seen people slug each other as we drive by,I have.My wife and I even do it on our travels whether in my bug,or our Mini.Last night I went to 7-11,and when I walked in the clerk slug bugged me.I said you can't slugbug my own car.we laughed and along with a few other people in the store we got in this huge conversation about "rules" for playing slug bug.Standard NB is one.Convertable is two,old bug is two,old convertible is 3.Then one of the couples said a yellow is two because it is the rarest color.I didn't think that was true, but I laughed and said I would get some others opinion.
Any comments?

Wasn't there a guy who recently wrote a book on it?

- i really am not fond of the ''slug dub'' thing going on right now, this should only be a Beetle thing, thanks Volkswagen

You get the award for "the most awesome post of the month"!!!.... if there were such a thing

I too am a bit aggravated over that sad ad campaign- epic fail.
Just a lame attempt to get folk to endear themselves to the VW brand as a whole, which isn't a bad in their intent- it's just that slug bug/punch buggy is engrained in the psyche as a beetle/only thing. Also our bugs have distinguishing characteristics over the status quo car, hence instant recognition and the onslaught of slugbug violence- with the other non-beetle VW's..... not so much.

I could rant a good while on this fail, but i'll let it alone- another time for another thread

I think the slugbug ads for non beetles is kind of lame.
Some of VWs other models get lost in traffic,at times I wish I were invisible, especially when I am trying to learn a song for a musical.I like the times where there are as many a 6 or 7 visible in traffic, and that's in Detroit.

Our family doesn't actually slug, we just count. The winner at the end of the drive or day has seen the most (first). We give 1 for the nb and 2 for the classic bug. Never thought of 3 for the old 'vert or 2 for the nbc! My dad can't keep up with my niece, so he makes up his own rules. If one was spoted parked on the way to the store, he counts it on the way home because 'it's on the other side of the road' and therefore different. And, especially at Halloween, he 'sees' bugs in other car costumes- like that lexus is a bug in a lexus costume.

I agree fun post
