I feel pretty bad for setting this up. It seems to have been the worst year ever. Sorry for getting y'all's hopes up.

You should not feel bad. You should be proud to have stepped up. No one is mad at you. It is not your fault if those who signed up didn't follow through. Not your fault.

Well I think for 2012 there should be a crash course on shipping because of all the missing packages. My SS went UPS, I went Priority Mail... everyone has their own methods. One thing to remember, shipping is EXPENSIVE my shipping was $16*, more than have of the gift value *I bot stuff shipped to me and consequently to my recipent) I think SSers might have balked when it came time to ship becuase of cost and chose the cheapest and slowest route. Rule of thumb expect to pay $10 to ship the avgerage gift cross country, not clear if the $20 limit include shipping.

Yeah if it's done next year there will have to be a lot of changes to the rules. Like I had mentioned before it would be nice in a way if we still used the reputation system as that could be incorporated into the requirements.

I agree. You cannot be blamed for other peoples failings.

Yalls don't really know the feeling, I know what brian is feeling and isn't a nice one.

You did a good effort for a first time, there was no knowing we'd have so many dissappearances.

All we can hope for is that next year will go better, if it happens next year at all.

Not sure it would really help. I mean, MORAV was a very active, well respected member here and he's been MIA. I mean, I hope he's ok. Really not like him to just disappear. But if he did, then a rep system may not do much. But I do understand the point.

So sad that it happened the way it did. Did seem that a lot had fun though, and that's what matters!

And keep in mind, he was still active on here until 12/28. Which is well past the time that he should have shipped anything. So while I hope nothing is wrong with the guy, based on the date of his disappearance, there's really no excuse.

True there isn't a way to weed out every person who is going to fall through, it might help but who knows. There will definitely need to be some stricter requirements of some sort. If there is another next year I have an idea so that so many don't get screwed, but I'm not gunna say anything

I have a few ideas that might help

Require an active phone number and email address (I did req email addys before, don't know if you used em)
Require use and ssubmission of tracking numbers
Keep it stateside. I mean we only started the international shipping to include marcia, and she's long gone too.
Have more than one person running the damn thing.... maybe cast a vote to see if we can allow said person to play in our reindeer games.

I did collect emails but didn't really use them. Phone numbers couldn't hurt. If we couldn't get them over email we could try calling to see what's up.
Tracking numbers is a good idea too. They don't cost anything extra unless you do USPS and wait to get it till you're at the counter.
I have to agree with the no international. We originally started it so Marcia could participate but she hasn't recently so it just makes things easier.
If we had more time to prep for it then I think the voting could work. Maybe have everybody vote yay or nay, majority rule or maybe more than X nays disqualifies them?

Peanut was so disappointed to learn that we don't know if she got our gifts or now. I hope she did and likes them. Christmas was a hard time for us but we always enjoy doing stuff like this. lol.
