Good question. I have no idea. I do have a standard 2 car garage. It is insulated and for me that heater I have suits me just fine. Now I wouldn't want to put a TV and an Ice chest out there and lounge around but for me while working on the car or doing some basic shores it is just fine. If you want a sauna where you can sweat while working than I would go with a couple of propane heaters that blow Hot air at you from multiple angles.
Why not try a couple of different heaters and see which ones you like and then return the rest. I did that. Bought 3 heaters and didn't like any of them. Returned them and got the one I have now. I kept it for the last 2 years now. But it just depends what you like and what you are comfortable with. If you want the garage kept at 80+ degrees than probably none of the small portable heaters will do.
My suggestion is buy one, try it out and see. Then if you hate it return it. You have 30 days with most stores.

Get a cheap used wood stove. Heating with wood is half the price of electric. That's what I'm doing with my old stove when I replace it... Heating my barn.

Nooo I'm not looking for a sauna room, but I'd like it to heat up to about at least 60 deg. quickly(maybe a half hr to an hour)I may just try a few different ones...maybe what I should have asked you is how long did it take to get the heat to a reasonable level using that heater??(say maybe 60 deg. or more).thanks...

I would recommend a quartz heater as well, they are work fast at heating the air and only take 1500w or less from the ones I have seen. For a two car garage that should be all you need for a quartz heater.
The electric above also looks promising but it might be too much for a two car garage space.

We got a kerosene heater for Christmas that works pretty well. Didn't notice much of an odor. Got our 22x28 up to 60 degrees in probably an hour. We shut it off before it ran out of fuel, but it ran for a good 5 hours. We're still looking for a more efficient option, but its pretty good for the time being for sure. I was able to do work on my car comfortably and my hands stayed warm (which is often what kills me when working in the cold). We have a back garage door (single bay width) that we had up about an inch or so for ventilation as well.

I did get a used Dayton electric heater (5000 btu) locally and used it when it was 20 degrees outside. It heated the immediate area around me just fine, its not going to heat up the whole garage....
I have a 2 car attached.

Im going to get the big Buddy heater, propane with 3 settings up 18,000 btu's this will heat the whole garage no problem. Cabela's has them on sale.
