Since a few people have asked ... here is a quick run-down of the car as things it will have and may need after sale...

The Good:
- Vehicle will have OEM monsoon headunit & factory speakers
- Entire car will be cleaned out to the best of my ability
- Everything will be tested and repaired as needed if feasible
- All items shown will be included, such as the new tires, etc.

The Needed:
Mechanically I'll have the car as good as possible but..
- The front bumper has a fair share if blemishes, needs repainted to make it perfect
- There is a small ding on passenger door, dent wizard could remove w/o paint for cheap
- Small residue on dash (2" sq) from some electric device that was there, I may be able to remove
- Beyond that the car is as would be expected for age/mileage..

I'll do my best to get the car as good as I can. As a matter of fact if it isn't too much money I may even spring to have the bumper resprayed at my local friendly body shop. We'll see! More pics to come in about a week but anyone who wants it let me know!!

I'm going to assume that "as is" in your eyes means how the car currently sits, not running, with the cylinder head, etc. If that is the case then my rock-bottom today-only price is $2,000 FIRM!

In that case you should be aware that the OEM radio and speakers are not yet installed (nor received by me). You should be aware that one of the tires has a leak that I haven't resolved yet (if it needed replaced I was going to replace it, hence my asking price for the car running). You should be aware the only parts I have so far is a new upper gasket set. I've not yet ordered the valves and other parts needed to rebuild the head.

If you want the car "as is" you MUST come pick it up THIS WEEKEND! My buddy who is fixing the car is going to order parts either today or Monday, so if you want it "as is" then I need to know TODAY! That way I can stop him from ordering parts for the moment.

We plan to have the car road-ready by a week from today, is what he told me last night over dinner. Meaning we need to order parts today or Monday to make that happen. If you are seriously interested please call or email me ASAP! - Ari

Yes, to me "as is" means exactly what you posted; however, I am leaving for N.J. at 1600 today to pick up an NB in the same condition as yours, so I will not be able to meet your constraints.

Thanks for your consideration.

Understood. If you wanted to PayPal me a deposit I'd be willing to hold it for you ... I'd want a $500 deposit towards the $2,000 selling price.

I'm just trying to keep the ball rolling. My feeling is that I'll break even at $2k but if I can fix the car and get better pictures, I may actually make a small profit which would be nice. That wasn't my goal but would be a good side profit for me.

If you are seriously interested, but you cannot pickup this weekend yet still want it, lets make a deal with a PayPal deposit. If that doesn't work for you, I'm happy to get it running and sell it to someone as cheap good daily driver transport. Let me know...

As much as I want it, I'll have to pass, go ahead and get it running. Perhaps I'll make you another offer then...

Understood. I'm sure the car will be worth more to the general public once I get done with it. Then it will have a resprayed front bumper, the OEM monsoon radio/speakers and will be running strong! I may even bump the price up once I can prove it is worth more and have better pictures.

If your mind changes, you know where to reach me today.

Right now the average selling price range is $4000-$6000.

All PMs are replied to. Jerry, I sent you an e-mail you nut job!

BTW, the car is due to be running by this coming weekend. Which means that no later than next weekend if not earlier I should have the car cleaned up with much better quality pictures.

However I've had some interest in it, so who knows if it will stick around that long. And a local friend with a wholesale car lot even wants it too. So I may just quick-turn it if nobody else on here grabs it quick!

I do not recall if it is an AWW or AWP motor, but I think it is the 180HP AWP motor if memory serves me right. Car is still at my buddy's house -- he expects it to be running/started today or tomorrow.

Head is fine, new valves are in, all items needing replaced are being taken care of, new metal impeller water pump etc. Car should be running like a top when we're done with it.

As for it being available, I have a local guy looking at it this weekend who may buy it. I have an interested party in Michigan ready to send a deposit if need be. And I've got a local wholesaler interested. Question then becomes, how serious are you?!

all sports had the awv motor good for 150hp. the sport package includes leather, 17" wheels, and sport seats...it does not include any bump in horsepower or number of gears.

little clarification.

Thanks for the clarification. Either way it is a 1.8T -- but yeah, so many variations. I've had a few Mk4 GTI/Golf cars with various 1.8T motors, then the Beetle has its own specific versions. WAY too many engine codes to keep up with!

ari, the awv=aww for the jetta/golf brothers. same everything, just a different intercooler.

what's even cooler is that an awp ecu is a direct swap, and in fact, apr's chip program makes the same on the awv as it does on the awp (180hp).
