Default Used 04 NBC 1.8t question...

I'm picking up a 2004 NBC 1.8t on Tuesday, and wanted to hear feedback on items I should keep a headsup about. It's dark blue with black top and leather, 5-speed with 22,000 miles. It is in excellent condition, and the dealer says it is still under warranty. How long is the manufacturer's warranty, and does anyone recommend an extended one?

That Galactic Blue Pearl NBC sounds good to me. I don't know anything about 2004 warranties, but our 2005 has the "4 Year/50,000mi" limited warranty, "5 Year/60,000" powertrain, and "12 Year/Unlimited Mileage" on rust.

The 2004 probably has the same. Good luck to you! New Beetle Convertibles truly are the funnest cars on the road!

Killer is an '04 and I haven't had any 1.8t-specific issues. My warranty is the same as those mentioned above. I'm very happy with my turbo NBC, congratulations on getting yours!

Yep, the warranty is the same as the others. If the NBC was manufactured in the first half on 2004, it is the same as mine. I think the ones from the second half, have an aux jack for MP3 players in the back of the radio and they moved the hazard button to the top of the dash. Some people have had problems with the flaps (wings) that flip out when the top raises / lowers on the 2004's so you may want to discuss that with your dealer and make sure that is covered under the remaining warrranty.

Congrats on your purchase, you are going to love it! Can't wait to see some pics!!!

Nope. I have an early '04 (took delivery Dec '03) and it has the cassette Monsoon HU and the top dash mounted hazard button. Very old pic attached.

Post pics noob!

How strange....mine is from Nov 2003 and the hazard light is down at the bottom. I wonder when they made the change? Do you have the MP3 aux jack in the back?

if you can get it certified..shouldn't that get you an extra 2 year 24k warranty ontop of what's left? atleast that's what the dealer told me trying to sell me a used NBC vs a new one.

In fact the sticker says the vert was manufactured Nov '03.

Default Convertible Top Cover?

Just got an 04 NBC GLS, Galactic Blue/Black Top. Did not come with a cover for the top when down. Don't know if it's standard or an option but would like to have one. Anybody ever purchased one? Couldn't find related info on VW of A.

BTW, my back window headliner was hanging down, too. Dealer fixed it with new clips - so far, so good!

Try ebay. That's where I got mine. Also request to have your VW dealer replace your window regulators with the 05 ones. They lower your window 2 cm when you press the unlock button and prevents them from rubbing against your top. You can do a search in this forum on the window drop issues.

I have a Sept. '03 of '04 model year and my hazzard switch is down next to the defrost button. Also came with the cassette instead of the CD which doesn't really matter 'cause I switched out for an aftermarket HU.
