I used RaggTopp on my BMW when I had it. I never draped off anything. I did have a clean soft cloth handy to clean up the over spray immediately. I did my soft top every 3 months. I never washed the top when washing the car unless it was dusty and then I only stood back and sprayed water via the hose to rinse off the top. I always did the top last. Not only will the top keep up its beading ability, it helped restore and protect the top from the sun beating down on it. I did not wait for the top to not bead up.
For best results, wash the top with RaggTopp cleaner using a very soft brush. Rinse and inspect the top for any dirty spots missed like tree sap or bird droppings. Repeat process until clean. If you have hard water, lightly blot the top to get excess water off the top or you will get water spots on the top. Allow top to fully dry in the sun. Put car in a shady spot or garage. If it is a windy day, wait for the wind to lay. Spray top with RaggTopp Protectorant holding the can 12 to 18 inches from the top. Use a side to side motion and fully cover the top. Wipe up all excess spray off of paint, chrome and glass as soon as possible after spraying the top. Allow top to dry completely to the touch. Repeat 2 more times. You can hasten the drying process by rolling the car back into the sunshine. Works best if it is pretty warm outside.
When I got my BMW with a black top, the top was almost gray from lack of care. The first application of RaggTopp brought the top back to a beautiful black color. It looked brand new. I recently did a red top on a Flint edition NBC. The top was somewhat faded from being parked in the hot Texas sun during the day while the owner was at work. The car is a year old and had not had the top treated during that time. After cleaning and protecting, the top looked brand new. This is perhaps the best product on the market for soft tops.
