Default Blind Spot

Do any of you worry about the large blind spot we have as NBC drivers? One member who I work with sold his - one reason being that he was afraid he'd clip someone. Another friend of mine bought the little mirrors to stick to the sideviews.

There are certain spots where I'm driving in town that I'm petrified, due to the angle of the roads converging, I'll swipe someone.

I have the side mirrors adjusted to almost eliminate blind spots. That, and shoulder checks, work very well.

Well, with the top down there is no blind spot at all.

So I changed the side mirrors so that they start covering the area not covered by the rearview mirror (or at least with very little overlap). Also I check behind my shoulder everytime I change lane. I really hope that takes care of all the blind spots.

I can't amagine being so scared of swiping someone in a new beetle?much less selling it because you had a blind spot?but then again there are people who will find blind spots seating in a lowback seat on the ground in the middle of a parking lot surrounded by mirrors!

This is the spot I'm talking about. I'm not sure I can adjust my side mirrors to effectively see everything there... side glances over my shoulder to look at the black top does nothing. I think I'm going to get some of those small mirrors. Just wanting to know if others felt the same.

Meh, I sit with the seats at the lowest possible setting, mirrors set to the outside max, drive fast and loud, and no one seems to want to get in my way.

The only problem I have is when I am backing out of a parking space. If my kids are with me then they tell me if I am clear or not hehe, otherwise I take it very slow.

I added those small convex mirrors on each side mirror. It makes a huge difference. I'm a big fan of these convex mirrors, as it allows me to not turn my head for most lane changes. I also use them on my other car, which has a much smaller blind spot compared to the NBC.

I never really liked the way they looked, sort of a 'trucker's'look. bugsgogo has a wide angle mirror you put over your existing mirro, but I keep forgetting to order a pair, arg...

I picked them up at Kragen. Very cheap... something like $2 each. I got the small ones. They are very unobtrusive and allow you to see the blind spot without even turning your head.
