Default CD Changer Installation

I am going to place a CD Changer into my 06 Vert and called the dealership to ask which model of the changer it uses and where it is mounted and I was told it mounts in the center console. I do not see how that is possible because my arm rest is only 3-4 inches deep. Does anyone know where a CD changer mounts in the 2006 Vert and can it use the only Monsoon changers? I currently have the single monsoon XM radio combination installed in the car.

Greetings Grey Ghost --

One option you may want to consider first ... since our '06 verts come standard with an MP3 plug, you can get an iPod, download your entire CD collection into it, and have a heck of a CD changer.

Plus, your iPod is more portable ... you can carry it with you and listen to it while you're out and about outside your vehicle, or you can hook it up to your home audio system.

Regarding the CD changer console ... he may be referring to this one --

(Note the price )

Good luck in whatever you decide.

I do have an IPOD so I think I will take your advise and download everything to it and plug and play. I appreciate your information, I had completely forgotten about the IPOD hookup.

Great ... that will make an awesome "CD Changer". I just plug my iPod into the dash jack, then lay it in the front console tray under the jack. I also have a cover on my iPod to keep it from getting scratched.

BTW, if you don't already have one, you'll need a cable. The shortest lengths they come in seem to be either 1 ft or 3 ft. I have the 1 ft length cable, and got it at my local Radio Shack store.

It mounts in the trunk. We are considering an 06 NBC and the one we are looking at has the changer in the trunk.

Thanks, I assumed that they were wrong and I was speaking with the service manager who steered me wrong. The second part of the question deals with the old generation mansoon 6-CD Changer. Will it be recognized by the current XM CD AM/FM radio combination that I have in the car. I have read that some people have had recognition problems having the old version CD-Changer. Further, if you look into Driver's gear it calls for the newer type CD Changer for all convertibles.

So much information available and the one who should know, dealership, give you skeptical info.

The changer you refer to by link goes in prior year NBC's. My 03 uses the console mounted one. The 06 I'm buying has one already in the trunk. Not sure if dealer or factory installed. It is a VW changer though.
