Default Top Flap Problem

Hey guys. Long time no see.

The passenger side flap wont go up and down automatically any more.

While looking to see what was happening, I noticed that there is an arm, with ball joints on either end, that articulate up and down to raise and lower the flaps.

The ball joint socket ends, in typical VW fashion, are made out of plastic. Needless to say, the plastic broke. Not only that, but when I went to pull it out, I dropped it, and it fell down into the door panel.

Not really willing to pull it all apart just to get the piece, I need to know the part numbers of the assembly, if anyone knows.

Ideally, the part numbers for the socket ends, and the metal arm that connects them would be great. I looked at the drivers side, and didn't immediately notice any part numbers.

If anyone knows, I would be a very happy camper.

This is for a 2004 NBC.

TIA,

David

Just go to the dealer and show them what you are needing, the parts dept can order one if they don't have it in stock. The item you are asking about can be purchased alone (as in the part is the metal rod with the ball sockets on the ends). I don't think there any part numbers on this item anyway.

As for the bit that fell down, pop the bottom part of the rear seat out and take a look, you might be able to feel around down in there and find the bit... and some loose change to boot if you are lucky. If you don't find it, I'd not worry to much about it anyway.

Had mine just repaired at the dealer. The part itself cost 36$ CDN but it took 2 hours to repairs. Total bill 196$.

Great. Thanks. I just need to get over to the dealer now. My new job is in the opposite direction from the dealer.

hi,

first post here... i have almost similar problem, flap was not aligned properly(it started to get loose) and the fabric top coming down snapped the little plastic connectic rods and the hinge that is under the top flap !

my question is, should i go to the dealer to get the flap repaired or is this a job a decent independent garage should be able to do well ?

thanks
