Car: 2007 triple white - don't know what a trim level is?!?!
Default cd changer for triple white

hi-
i am new to this forum - i have a 2007 triple white and i am in love. my hub had a 2001 turbo that he just traded for a 2009 hard top. i think mine is better and he is close to admitting it himself.
i am wanting to get a cd changer for my car and it is wired for one in the trunk. i have been trying to find something on the net and came close with crutchfield, but when i entered my car's info it came back with won't work for my vert.
i can use my ipod, but for long trips i sometimes want specific music and the ipod is a pain to use while driving if you want to change something or get tired of shuffle.
any ideas?
thanks,
linda

You can go to the dealer and purchase the unit that is controlled by the radio in your dash. Crutchfield had three units that can play thru your FM band of the radio in your dash, but they have controls units attached or remote types. Good Luck!!!

You need the VW CD changer. It's guaranteed to be plug-and-play, will work seamlessly with your factory radio.
Personally, I wouldn't buy it from the dealer, I would buy a good used one either on here or on eBay, or even on the Vortex. But my bug is not brand new like yours, so if you want a brand new changer and are willing to pay the dealer's price, it's up to you. Just watch they don't overcharge for installing what ammounts to a few screws and plugging in a plug. Again, I would buy the part and install myself - up to you what you decide Keep on buggin' Can't wait to see some pictures of both your bugs!

Default thanks

thanks to both of you for taking the time to answer my question.
i priced out a changer from my dealer and it was 250.00 not too bad i guess - i was really wanting one for the trunk, but am not sure if it can be wired for that since the 2007's were in the console - any ideas about that?

Default cd changer for convertible

I know this is an old thread, but for those that might stumble upon it. The CD changer for the convertible goes in the center console, not the trunk. It should be plug and play. If your model doesn't have a center console, I'm not sure where your beetle would be pre-wired. Maybe it is the trunk for that trim level? You can get the changer where the other folks have said, ebay, vortex, dealer.

I had a 2006 NBC and have a 2009 NBC, both with the CD changer in the trunk.

Default I stand corrected

Just when you think you know something is true, someone proves you wrong. Thanks for the update. I keep learning about these beetles. Now if someone can tell me how to make my Monsoon MP3 CD player (which replaced my monsoon cassette deck) recognize my factory CD changer in my console, I'll even be happier.

It depends. The vws with the armrest that stands up like all the early beetles, those will have it in the trunk because it can't fit in there. Those that have the console armrest much like any other car, thats where the cd changer will go.

Vw went from the type that stands up to the traditional style. Then in the later years like 06 07 +, they went back to the original style, which forces the changer back into the trunk.

Did you try all the buttons? I thought it was just plug and play with that one...

Default mp3 radio doesn't find cd changer

I thought it was supposed to be plug and play as well. I've tried all the buttons, pressing twice, holding, etc. I checked the setting with my shareware VAG-COM and the code seems appropriate for a Monsoon with a CD changer, but still no luck. I guess the next stop is the dealer.
