Default Busted Little Door

I'm not a regular here so in advance I will thank you for any advice. We have an '04 convertible that I bought for my wife. The other day I was taking the top down and on of the doors in the back did not disengage properly and was broken as the top came down on it. Bummed, I stopped by the dealer to order a replacement and was FLOORED! They are $400+ and that's not painted! I couldn't believe it. I did my best with VW customer service but they didn't help (some service..NOT). Is this a common issue? Are there any third party sources to get one of these things? I can't believe a plastic door the size of paperback costs over $400 buck.

Thanks very much,
Jeff

Well you're out of warranty, not much they can really do about it at that point.

The flaps for the roof (which is what I take it you're referring to) also include sensors and motors, if I recall.

The alternative is to remove them and obtain the trim cards from the manual roof/2005+ NBCs. Sure there's a hole there but it's trimmed off and isn't that bad.
