tried raggtopp today for the first time on our 2006 NBC...did improve the look of the top, but was not totally satisfied as some of the old wrinkles, white blotchy areas still remain. any others have similar results?

Yeah I tried RAGGTOPP. It helped some but it did not get out the faint dirt spots in my Beige roof. So overall I am kinda diappointed with RAGGTOPP. I've tried Eagle's convertible top cleaner too. I don't know that there is anything that will get that dirt out without being a harsh chemical.
So my opinion is this - if the stain or blemish is organic in nature, I'll use RAGGTOPP. It's emzyme based and breaks down organic compounds. For anything else, I will probably use Eagle's conv top cleaner. It has more surfactants to help lift dirt away. Oddly, I have yet to use Volkswagen's own top cleaner. The guy at the parts counter didn't recommend it for the beige top. |

I don't know where you got the information that Raggtop would get rid of wrinkles. It's simply a protectant that will help maintain the color of the fabric. That's it. Additionally, if you don't apply it regularly, it may not maintain that color. I use it twice/year - b4 the winter sets in and just b4 fall. I don't use the cleaner, but you may want to use that too.

So I got the 303 stuff and used it today. Unfortunately it did not get out the dirt spots either. I am just resigned to the fact they are never coming out without some serious chemicals - which I am not going to use. Interestingly, the 303 I think fits in between Raggtopp and Eagle's. It lathers up better than Raggtopp but not quite as much as Eagle's. And is smells like it has enzimes. I dunno. But I will probably stick to my routine in the previous post when I use up the 303.

I was hoping the 303 would solve the problem. Thanks for letting us know. BTW, Have you tried a professional detailer? |

Sorry folks, but they're there to stay. I don't care what you use, but you will not remove the wrinkles, short of replacing the top every season.
I too have the cream colored top and was a bit skeptical at first, but upon seeing black NBC tops, I'm glad I got this color. Sure I might have "some" dark spots which will eventually come out with a bit of scrubbing, but at least it doesn't act as a lint brush and allow "everything" to cling to it. Don't mean to offend y'all with the black tops, but the one I saw at the dealership was just full of extraterrestrial thingys...yikes! Wrinkles...if ya got 'em...love 'em because they're there forever....how about plastic surgery or Botox? Jerry ![]() |

Salsa-man....................
Just wondering out loud to myself, how bad are the spots that you have? What caused them? I have an ocassional dark spot where the top fits down into the body and actualy it's about the size of a 50 cent piece, but with ome serious scrubbing with Mequires car wash soap, it eventually comes out. You might want to trap that stain as soon as you spot it, if possible. Kinda like bird poop...don't allow it to remain on the paint for long....else wise it eats into the paint... Just some thoughts. Jerry :-) |

Here are some pics of when I first got the car. Bear in mind, it's an '06, it only had 3100 miles on it when I got it, and just got it this past May. So I don't know what kind of maintenance was done during those first 3 years or where those spots came from. I have been very quick to clean anything off it since the car has been mine. ![]() The spots do look better but they are not completely gone and are still noticeable. I've been very careful not to scrub hard or use ordinary soaps. This is a Haartz cloth top and I do not want to risk weakening or damaging the fibers (which you can easily do) by scrubbing too hard or using harsh soaps or chemicals. |

Thought about it. But haven't gone that route yet. Actually, a friend of mine, who is very knowledgable about convertibles, knows of a body shop here in San Antonio that specializes in convertibles. I need to get the name from him and take it to them and see what they say. |

I meant to do this in the spring, but...
