Hey, guys: A friend of mine just started looking for a NBC. He saw an '06 NBC at a VW dealership for around $15,500 with about 50,000 miles on it. He said the car looks to be in excellent condition. It's certified for four years according to the salesman. I told him based on our NBC, the price they're asking is in the ballpark. We are here in NJ and prices might be a little higher than in other states. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!!

I am here in Seattle, and not sure how our prices fair to yours. but that seems a little high to me.

I purchased my 2005 NBC with 37,000 miles on it for $13,000 last September and that was from a VW dealer. I am sure private sales would be a little lower, but this was the exact one I wanted. Shop around, and check the Blue Book values. If you go in without a trade, be sure to wheel and deal.

Since now is convertible weather dealers will not haggle as much, cuz even if they don't sell right away they'll park them front and center to draw attention, get it now, life's short

I don't know, my dealer has had a harvest moon vert on the lot since I got mine last fall, and it is still sitting there. I bet I could deal on that one.

I bought mine last May - convertible weather time - and it had been on the lot for about a month. Lots of people love convertibles but the number that would actually buy one is very small in comparison. Don't let the dealer pull a fast one on ya. The price....hmmm....with 50K miles on it? I am thinking its a tad high. Mine just had 3100 miles on it, and it was loaded with every option avail for '06. Is the one you're lookin' at have option package #2? If it doesn't, then I would say definitely that price is too high.

A good source to see what is an average price for a car like yours is to go look at what Carmax is charging. They don't haggle with the price so they have to really know their stuff when pricing a car - they have to price them to sell and make a profit at the same time. A really good source of info IMHO.

Hi, Salsaman: Thanks for your input. Actually this car is for a friend of a friend. We have an '06 NBC in Harvest Moon. They loved our car so they were asking me to find one very similar for them. The one I saw is almost identical to mine. We have pkg 2 and I believe the one I saw has it. The only difference is we have the cream and black interior and that one has all black. I did some research and found that with the pkg 2 vert, they are running between $14,900 to $16,500 believe it or not. We'll see what happens. Thanks again for your reply. I love your Salsa red Bug!!
