I know that black interior gets hot, so I was thinking about getting tan interior for my wife's 2010 Salsa Red NBC. Does the black interior on the NBC (i.e. the materials) get hot, or should I go for the black interior and skip the tan?
Also, if you get tan interior, will the top be tan or black? Thanks! Eric |

Greetings Eric!
Welcome to the Forums! I have owned a dozen convertibles in the past 30 years, and once you have owned one with black or charcoal interior you will likely never own another if you lower the top very often. The black upholstery becomes a frying pan in the summer with very limited exposure to the sun. Something else to consider if you select the tan interior is the boot cover. Unless things have changed the one that is supplied will be black even with the tan interior. Had I realized this when I purchased my Beetle in 2007, I would have included the exchange of the black boot cover for a tan cover in my purchase contract. As it was, I purchased a tan cover via the Internet for $100 - - much better price than I was able to get from my dealer. Unless things have changed since 2007, the top color matches the color of the upholstery. The tan top isn't difficult to maintain, at least where I live. I don't know whether the color would pose a problem if you live in an area where acid rain may be a problem. Good luck with your investigation! Kevin

Like dnyed said "Tan! Black get H O T!!!
Black may not show as much road grime if you have the top down alot, and remember, darker colors absorb heat and lighter colors (to a point) reflect.

Personally I would get black only because I like the look, but I also live in Canada where we are lucky to get a few months of warm 'convertible weather'. If you plan on using the vert a lot, then a tan interior might suit you better. My brother's BMW has a black top, and dark brown/beige (hard to describe the colour) leather interior. I find it comfortable to sit in it when it's hot out.
