Default 04-05 Convertible Turbo vs. the other 1.8T?

I've been looking around everywhere and searched here as well as other forums and I'm having a hard time finding a straight answer.

What is the difference between the Coupe 1.8T and the Convertible 1.8T There seem to be 20 more horses in the Coupe. Is it possible to replicate that in the Convertible?

If anyone can point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated. Not an owner yet, but highly considering an 04-05 vert.

The Revo Stage 1 program will get you about 50 more hp. $299 until July 25.

The coupes had the same engine, a 150hp 1.8T Turbo, as the Verts.

But from 2002-2004 (2003.5 to be exact), there was a special coupe model called the turbo S. That model had a 180hp 1.8T and only came pared with a 6speed manual whereas the regular 1.8Ts in all the bugs only could be pared with a 5speed manual, 4speed automatic (1999-2002), or 5 speed automatic (2003-2005). That Turbo S model is pretty much the dead on NB equivalent of the mk4 GTI 1.8T. Its technically a different 1.8T engine design. You can tell a Turbo S model from the regular beetle because it has a small pair of round lights in the front next to the headlights for headlights and a slightly different front clip.

But as miffmole stated, you can "chip" any of the 1.8Ts and gain about 30-60hp and 45-60ft-lbs of torque for about $300-$600. At the moment, APR is having a sale where you can get your car chipped for $400 which is a $100 savings.

I hope this helps you out!

You mean a 1.8 turbo, right? There are no stock 2.0T Beetles...yet. 2012 will probably have a 2.0T option.
Your engine cover says "20 V Turbo," meaning 20 valves.

That's much better than 12 volt, huh?
