Default ** UPDATED FIX** Electrical roof problem I have my fault codes need help **PICS**

Last post for Updated fix with part number and details

Hi
I am trying to fix my GF 2004 convertible New beetle.
The roof dosent go down completly. once you lower it it get stuck down. you need to wait a few min to be able to lift it back.

Once it's down both flaps stay up and will not lower.
also once you raise the top windows dont come up.

I am lucky and have a vag-Com and was able to scan the car

I got 2 faults code.

02000- Switch position
008 - implausible signal - intermittent
01091- Switch front Canopy (F202)
008 - implausible signal - intermittent

I dismentled the plastic to get to the F202 Switch , which was a real pain and press the switch a few times , turn the ignition on off a few time and was able to completly lower the roof and flaps. But the windows didnt roll up. Same things happens when I raise the roof no windows movement.

I noticed while reading on the forum that some of you guys when you activated the roof you get a beeping sound. I dont , Only a flashing light.

Any ideas what I should do next ? replace F202 ?

Thanks
volks

I know where the F202 but isnt the Code 02000 Switch position Trigger by the F202 ?
Also is F202 a regular Open close switch ?
Should I pin check it at the Roof ECM ?

Anybody else had a similar problem ?

I noticed something , the roof doesn't go down completely on the first try. I have to do the On off ignition multiple time to get the roof completely down and lock, Only then the little flap will go down.

I also played with the F202 while the ignition switch on , and that switch control the Flap and it does work everytime I manually press it flap raise or go down. Also that F202 switch cost $285 at the stealer :S

I think the main issue is that the roof doesn't go down completely for some reason. At lest not the first time you press the switch. Then it freeze and you have to play with ignition switch... roof switch... to get completely down.
Once completely down it will always go up , but only is it was lock down with flap close.

I am having a hard time figuring whats wrong

I took some picture

F202

when roof is up and latch open just before you lower the roof F202 controls the flaps

This time roof when almost down but not completely and not lock
flap stayed up the little slider driver sides is a bit sticky

Slider ok here

Stuck slider that pop out as soon as you touch it

Roof is frozen that way , wont come up or down. took about 5 min of playing with windows and ignition switch to unlock the system.

Ok I got a lots of PM and dont come here very often. I guess my solution answer is a bit confusing so here some more Explications

ECM will code F202 but it's not the problem.
Start with this 1YO 959 985 A Plastic piece in Post #6 (micro switch is cheaper than the F202)
The F202 can be easily check with a multimeter. Big chances are that it will be just fine.

My problem was the position micro switch on the roof cylinder passenger side Part # 1YO 959 985 A
A $50 plastic part with 2 micro switch on it.
You need to remove the rear right passenger interior panel to access it.
The micro switch in Question tell the Roof computer if the roof is close or open along with other micro switch. When your roof get stuck its because one of the 2 micro switch is sticking. The computer get a signal that the roof is close and open a the same time, he freak out and stop everything so you don't cause any damage to the hydraulics.

I hope this Clarified stuff a bit
