Default enginge oil question

Hi guys,

I might have weird problem. I just did a service in the official VW dealer to my new beetle (4-5k km ago). I have 1.6 unleaded gas engine. After that I had two rides of 1400 km each on the free-way and the rest of the use was in the city and between the cities. It was hot outside during those rides (35 degree Celsius). I was driving around 140 km/h in average on those rides. Rest was normal city and regional use.

Yesterday I was driving on the free-way again around 130 km/h when the yellow oil lamp went on with a beeping sound (the sign for the oil level/it did not flash). I stopped right away, opened the hood, checked the oil level (it was on the low side)and added oil back and the lamp went off. I still did not pass 100 km to see if it will come back again.

Is it normal that the engine consume so much engine oil? Could there be something else wrong with the engine?

The dealer told me it might be normal, but I did not like the sound of that. As you can probably judge I am not an expert, especially since I have some suspicions that they added some crappy oil

P.S
I did not notice any leakage of the oil below the car.

The car is officially dated on May 2004. I added roughly around 250 ml of oil, and now the oil is on half...
