Default NB Light issues

Before I bought my NBC in July, I used to notice lots of NB's with burned out head lights or tail lights that were either out of partially out. Is there some sort of electrical issue with these cars. Has it been corrected with the newer models. Prior to my 2010, I also had a 2001 NB I bought new. Lots of recalls and minor mechanical issues. Wondering if VW got their act together yet.

To my knowledge, there isn't much difference between the first beetles and last beetles mechanically. But Vw has corrected a lot of complaints caused by the earlier models.

The burned out tail light thing can be replaced by cleaning the contact that the bulb sits on, or replacing that part for about $25. I did the latter about 10 months ago and I haven't had to replaced a single bulb since.

The headlight thing i've never had a problem with, but i bet it can be something similar.

Mostly, i've noticed that some people don't care enough or are too lazy to fix it either. Takes 5 minutes to do the taillights and thats removal and installation.

I don't know too much about recalls here. I know that there are currently a recall on the sunroof drains to stop/prevent them from leaking, the coilpacks on 2001+ 1.8T models, the hazard light swith, and the brake light switch.

Welcome to the org!!!!
