Was driving today out of nowhere a huge piece of asphalt hit the center of the windshield creating a 6 in long crack... Anyone had to replace one ? (06 convertible)
Thanks... What a day

What kind of insurance do you have, is covered, any deductable. make sure they get the correct one, it has the radio antenna in it. Did you know the Azul speedmesh wheel is no longer made. Had to replace one last June(09), I got lucky and found one in Florida thru America Tire here in Thousand Oaks. Good Luck...

P.S What color wheel did you get, silver, hyperblack, or gloss black, any pictures??

Hyperblack. Thanks for the heads up. Called a few places yesterday if the crack is less than a dollar bill it can get fixed, if it is at or bigger than a dollar bill needs replacement. Not only the antenna but also the rain sensor for the wipers will be an issue. $89 plus tax to fix $245 plus tax to replace. I keep a high deductible ($1000) to keep cost down (thanks Pelosi) so I will pay and have them replace it. Will post a picture Friday. Shocks and springs are next

For the small difference in price (and even if it was more), I'd do the replacement instead of the fix. We fixed a small crack in My beloved's MB a while back, and until we got rid of the car, we could always tell it was there. It was distracting as all get-out...

I totally agree with you, but I also believe in Murphy's law...The fixed it today. I am not home to take a picture, it is frustrating as it is, as I get half the story everytime I call home, she was driving close behind a dump truck, she was boxed and didn't have time to pass. The "huge" crack is a quarter size chip with a crack at its end.... They filled it with resin but I am not home to see how it looks. I am sure it looks crappy as I hate even dirty windows, but can't say much 'till I get home Friday night.
