Default Front driver's window stuck halfway.

It happened to me. Thanks to these boards when the window stopped working and would only go halfway up it didn't come as a complete shock. The noise sounded like there were rocks caught in the system. What surprised me was that it happened so soon. I thought I would have quite a few miles to go. Also I notice a lot of the other window problems mention rear, not front.

Yep... Welcome to the club. Rear left at 11000 miles rear right at 18, front right at 20, rear left again at 30, waiting for the lest front as it will be out of factory warranty Sept 21st. She had a 4 year (60k mile)extended warranty purchased at time of sale which I got it transferred to me but not sure if they will cover it. Wish they fixed it once and for all...

My goodness. This can't be happening to EVERY NBC! Windows going at 11K, 20k, that's outrageous! There must be some specific defect or else EVERY owner of a NBC would be having the same problem. I am concerned as I see so many complaints about the problem. I just bought a used 05 NBC with 37,000 miles on it. So far, all the windows sound quiet and operate smoothly. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Chances are one of them has been replaced at some point in the past... Problem is it is cheaper for VW to replace them individually than issuing a world wide recall, just like Ducati does with their plastic gas tanks in the new GT1000...

Would that not show up in a car fax report?

Thanks, Hammer. Not a club I want to necessarily belong to but I do still love my car. I'm still under warranty so it's an easy fix for now. Not looking forward to when it's not

Samman11, I think only collision incidents show up on Carfax.

When I was at my dealer I saw that you can buy extended warranties. I still have a ways to go but might be something worth looking into.

My right rear just went out about 20 minutes ago :-( and my car is no longer under warranty double :-(

anyone know what it takes to fix it? I called the dealership and they just wanted to schedule me in, but I called another shop that works on VW's and they are getting pricing and going to call me back.

If anyone has any idea what this normally costs, please let me know.....
Thanks!

Vw issued a recall on the windows thats good for 7 years on all window regulators a long time ago. You may want to contact your dealership concerning this
