Default Door Switch - Where is it ?

Like so many others, the window has quit doing it's dance to facilitate opening/closing tge door (in this case, it's the driver's side). Ours is a 2004 NBC.

When the driver's door is opened, the interior light does not come on... I suppose that this is pointing at the "door switch."

Well, today, I took off the inside door panel and looked around for the "door switch."... No luck.

So, where is the darned thing?

Thanks !

Rob

It's located inside the door lock, the part that grabs the loop on the B-pillar. Not easy to access, you have to remove the assembly and open it. And (as far as I know) there are three switches inside.

Unhappy RE Door switch

Rob I am having the same problem ever since I got my car back from the tire place a few weeks ago, the driver side window does not open/close automaticaly and the interior door light on that side is not working. I have to use the key to manually close the window or open it before I get in or else it catches on the convertible top. I dont know what they at the tire shop could have done to cause this or it just went out coincidentally on that day.
ROb I'd like to hear how you get yours resloved.

Has anyone else fixed this themselves or is this another dealer only fix? I love my bug but am getting tired of going there and paying 3x as much as if I fixed it myslef. GRRRRRR!! I also do not know where the switch is, Anyone with help on this?
Thanks so much

Kym

Yikes! Yesterday, I only removed the interior door panel... with that off, I could see that there is a metal panel inside of that (held on by what looks like a bunch of 10mm bolts). So, does that inner metal panel have to come off before I can get to the door switch assembly?

I appreciate the help!

Stupid door Switch!! $3 Fix!!! - TDIClub Forums

These may provide some insight. These are what I plan to use when I finally get around to repairing my passenger side switch. Its not as big of an issue as the drivers side, so its been broken for a good 3 or so years now. I have the part to fix it, just need the time to tear into it.

Red face 2004 vert driver front window

could it be the door switch? I know this is an OLD thread, looks like 2006, but hoping someone will see and help, if possible.

bought 2004 vert a month ago, July 8, 2011. when I purchased, the driver window screeched something terrible, they 'fixed' that problem, no more screeching BUT a month later, (as is, no warranty) i use the keyless remote, the door window drops, good thing, but as soon as I open the door it goes back up, I need to use the remote once I close the door, to have it 'drop' and then start the car, it (window) goes up and 'locks' under the vert top.

The other day, open using keyless entry, window drops, stood chatting with a friend, door open, and the window, dropped, up, dropped, up, dropped, up. Like it was possessed.

Today (August 6 2011) I took her to tint her windows, the guy doing the tinting is having a heck of a time getting 'grease' off the window, he shows me on his squeegee, wondering if the dealer who sold me the car and 'fixed' the screeching window, might have used some grease? Later, at my sons home, I open using keyless, window drops, back up, I get in car, close door, click keyless to drop window, and the alarm starts going off. Doesn't stop until I put the key in the ignition.

Do you think that what ever the dealership that sold be the buggy put on the window to stop it from screeching messed up something inside the door? If so, could a handy person fix it? (I am referring to myself as the handy person) What kind of skill level to fix would be needed? Any and all help would so be appreciated. I do not want to take back to the dealer I bought from, especially if they are the ones that messed it up in the first place. Small, small town, chevy dealership, only dealership in town.

Oh, the check engine light was on when I bought the buggy, they (dealership) did not have the computer hookup to read what the prob was. Took that to advanced auto parts to get a reading (free). P0118. bought the new part, 13 dollars, and within 15 minutes had the new part in, back to advanced, they cleared it, check engine light has not come back on. Hence, if advanced auto has a computer to talk to my buggy, why would the chevy dealership NOT have one. Nope, if it can be done, with a bit of difficulty, I would like to attempt to do it myself.

Thanks in advance
