Default Adding non VW Fog Lights

Just wondering if anyone has added non VW fog lamps to the New Beetle. My dealer wants like $600 for the job. I was gonna get some nice lights at the auto store and try and install as part of the grill myself. I'd just have to add an extra switch to the dash I guess. Anyone done it. What lights did u use? Pictures? I want to get something that is small and looks nice.

Buy fog lights that have a built in relay, a decent mechanic that can follow instructions can install them. There are thousands of light makers, JC Whitney has some relly nice lights, you will just have to pick the set out you want. Get lights with glass, plastic fades.

ECS Tuning sells a fog light kit. I installed the OEM fog lights in my 2009 NBC for about $250. Installing the fog lights and grilles is the easy part. Purchased the fog lights and grilles from 1st VW parts. Euro switch off eBay for $15. Also had to buy the fog light connector (H11) for the bulbs (ebay for about $10). Went to the junk yard and got a wire with connector off a donor car for the fog light wire coming from the light switch. Just plug into the light switch socket. Find a way to run this wire (you will need to add appropriate length to it) down to the fogs. Find a close by ground point too. If using OEM fogs, a relay is not required, the switch is all you need. Remember too, doing it this way, the fogs will be active when brights are selected. Normally the fogs will turn off with brights on. On my installation, I used the OEM wiring method which is very involved.

Now we're talking!

Most offroad / truck shops that install lights and winches would do a better job than an average garage and would probably do it in way less time for cheaper.
