Default Top Latch (Lock-Down) Sensor

I have been having a continual issue with the sensor that monitors the top up lock-down status. The car is certain that the top isn't locked dowm properly yet it is locked down. I have tried running the top through its complete range of motion multiple times and the top-down sensor works properly while the top up sesnsor does not. Any idea whether I need a new sesnsor (and if so where it might be found) or if there is a sensor that needs adjustment? The car is a 2007 New Beetle Convertible with electric top.

My wifes 2004 did the same thing - I was told several things about the top up sensors ( I was told there are 2 ) - bottom line - the dealer replaced one of them and it solved the problem. I believe they are located in the windshield header and may or may not be adjustable ( I have heard both ) - I have also heard that cleaning them with something may help??

According my paperwork switch is a -- 1YO-959-699-A and cost $ 20.19 at my dealer however labor was $ 220.00....

Again my wifes NBC is a 2004 and your part # may be different

Good luck

I was sure I posted this yesterday; must be loosing what little mind I have left! lol

There are several threads around here addressing this issue. As I remember, (1) sensor (on the passenger side, as stated, in the window header), there would be no need for a second. The second referenced may be the one for the down position. In one thread is mention of a VW Service Bulletin that, from my undersatnding of the read, includes the addition of a rubber, Dealer add on piece for centering (Dealer Fix). You might want to do a thread search and see if you can find additional information.
