Has anyone ever use a windstop or windbreaker with their convertible? I was thinking of using one from Windscreen Windblocker Wind Deflector for your Convertible, lifetime warranty, only $80. Do they work well? I still will enjoy the top down part but may be able to drive faster and not have my long hair flying everywhere!

For less than $80 you can pic up a used OEM one on Ebay. I seen the one you linked to before I bought the OEM one for the wife...and I had to pass because it looks ridiculous.
Seriously, that thing is a piece of plexi-glass w/ straps ![]() The OEM looks great on the car, can fold in half and fit in the trunk. I Highly doubt that plexi-glass one will fit in the trunk. |

I would not use my convertible* without the OEM windscreen. It really does "screen" the wind. Yours didn't have one?

Get the OEM one, u won't regret it. I sold mine a while back and got $120 but it was brand new.

Mine works great until a semi blows by and knocks it down with a big bang! The first time this happened, it was most startling. Yes, they do work. Shop eBay for one. Look at completed sales to see what they are selling for. Should get a good used one for $50.00 to $80.00 and maybe even cheaper.

![]() When we bought ours my buddy Morav advised me about that and he was dead on, I wasn't gonna get them but then as I was signing the title I asked them if they had the original boot and windscreen and they both (PO's) looked at each other like "crap, he caught us" and unhappily said "oh yeeeah, it must be those things that came in the trunk" ![]() I guess they were waiting for us to go so they could wave bye bye while yelling SO LONG SUCKERS ![]() Then I bought a monsoon CD player together with a set of booth and wind screen from another couple who had just sold their 08 vert. Guess they forgot to put them back in the trunk too ![]() |

Yes, I thought the plastic one looked silly too but then I saw that it had a lifetime warranty and I could still use the back seat. Didn't look like I'd be able to with the OEM one. So does the OEM one ever get tears in the mesh/screen? Also, is it easy to install and take down? I bought my used 2004 Beetle in September and it didn't have a windscreen with it but I think it would be great to have. Ebay is the best place to find one then?

I'd hit the one Morav has, if he says it is in as new condition then it is and thats what you want. I think I paid like $23 to ship the one I sold so again, $90 shipped sounds like a good deal IMO ![]() |

If you have any thoughts of them cheaper on eBay, here is one running right now
$90 shipped, my "gift" to our new member! Vert season coming, all prices up!Thanks for the plug, J. ![]() MORAV |

My poor NBC was totaled last year. I finally logged in here after all this time. It still makes me very sad that it is gone
![]() I do have a Windstop from my 2006, used 4 years, great condition if not a little dusty; with the cover. I also have the creamette boot cover. It has a few marks on it, but barely used. Too, I have the owner's manual... 2006 2.5L. |

I was wondering what that thing in the bag was! It was in the trunk of my used NB I got 2 weeks ago. Good to know!
We plan on trying it out on the interstate tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes. Last edited by memupp; 04-14-2011 at 04:51 PM.. |

We used the windstop today for the first time. It did indeed snap into place easily. The quality of the mesh screen looks very good.
At highway speeds, there was a noticeable difference but we still experienced some buffeting. Then we put the windows up and it was perfect. At around-town speeds, it was nice with the windows down. My hair really didn't blow around much to speak of compared to the cyclone that's usually created. You can still access the back seats with it in place, just not as easily. I think I'll keep it installed for now and test it some more. |

Had a Genuine VW one for a year but to be honest we didn't use it much because the back seats can't be used
Only really noticed a difference when on the motorway Sold mine on e-bay - good solid place to find stuff
