Default Cabriolet Complete Roof Change

Hi
Don't know if anyone has attempted this yet but we have a 06 Vert with beige hood that has permanent grime marks where it stretches over the frame it just looks terrible.
I have tried everything to remove them without sucess so have located a complete black roof with frame from a 07 Vert
My question is has anyone attempted a complete swap over

I wouldn't even attempt a re-cover but a full hood and frame replacement should be straight forward

Will be attempting this next Monday so should be a fun few days messing

I have never tried but I may have some literature on such task if you are interested. Have you tried a glass and top (upholstery) shop to see if they may have a way to remove the stains? It is not an easy or little task either way you do it, wether you keep the frame or replace it.

Here's some orger's experience on stains

or here

Have you tried 303 or Raggtop line?
Good luck with it

Cheers for that Tico but the grime seems to be embeded/worn only on the frame sections - like stripes going across the roof
I think its just general wear an tear but on a beige hood it stands out a mile

I know its a big task but having tackled the drivers door lock issue and window reg issue (nightmares) - i'm hoping the roof swap should be pretty straight forward

I'll take some pic's and post em here start/during/after etc

NP, the bentley manual has most of what you need as far as disassembling and assembling, takes the guesswork out of the picture and tends to make things easier. If you don't own one nor want to buy it right now I can e mail you the pages you need to complete the job.

And it would be awesome for all of us if you can document the whole thing with pictures and perhaps post a DIY here

eBay them, and recover some of your costs! Not cheap parts. Or save them as spares, you may very well need them at some point in time.

Well here we are all done, 2 days to complete the job.
Pretty straight forward the only pain was ensuring the body paintwork wasn't damaged.
Also the body painted plastic trim parts around the roof hinge need special care they are very delicate and tricky to remove.
3 Bolts secure the roof hinge pivot point on both sides along with around x 16 ish screw at the very back of the parcel shelf.
A bit of messing with the rams and some fiddley headlining clips and thats it.
Also we had to swap over the front hood trim panel and handle as the donor car interior was grey, and had to re-set all the window closing gaps.
Its much easier to swap the whole roof than fit a new hood skin so if your need to change your hood find one off a breaker.

Here's a quick pic i'll take a few more at weekend
