Newest addition to KNEWBUG, better throttle response, maybe some extra Horsepower?? Lets the engine breathe a little better, possible better gas mileage, will test mileage on trip to ROSWELL.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but any change in throttle response is only in your imagination. All you are getting is more noise, which a lot of people mistake for more power. There is no extra horsepower, the engine breathes the same, and it will have zero impact on mileage. You may in fact get better mileage to Roswell, but only because it's a long highway run.

I seriously am not trying to be an ass, that's just the facts. The stock intake and filter flows more air than the engine could ever pump.

Also hate to burst bubbles, but there are 2 types of aftermarket intakes, Hot Air intakes and Wet Air intakes. You are now sucking in hot air from the engine bay.

Could be worse though, the Wet Air intake, as the name implies does this:

YouTube - ‪The problem with an aftermarket intake.‬‏

There is also the issue these types of air filters can cause for our already finicky MAF sensors as well.

I'm not trying to beat you down or anything. If you like the way it sounds, I've got no problem with that... it does sound more aggressive which is cool. But there are no performance gains. The same filter you removed I believe is the same filter my R32 uses, and it demands a lot more air than the 2.0L.

IMO:

If something so simple would have really increased Throttle Response, HP, Torque and MPG... don't you think VW's knowledgeable, expert and highly paid engineers wouldn't have already thought of it?

It may sound different.. but that's about it. That's why I sold the brand new Neuspeed P-Flo I had. Plus I love the sound of my quiet turbo-whistling bug.
