Default leak from area above rear view mirror

All,

I just bought my wife a 07 Convertible Beetle that she fell in love with at first sight. The car is in great shape and it appears to have no real issues (knock on wood) except a small leak. The first time we washed her car we noticed that water was leaking into the cab of the vehicle from the area above the rear view mirror. The area has alot of little holes cut out in it by design. I was wondering if anyone else has this issue and if so how did you fix it. I am thinking about trying to pop that cover off and see if I can fill it with a water proof sealant or maybe a piece of rubber to seal it. I would be continent with just putting a down on the dash when we wash it but enough water has leaked into it to cause the radio to stop working intermittently. We have an extended warranty on the vehicle and it will cover the radio but claim they may not cover the leak because it may occur just because it’s a convertible.

Any help/advice in this issue would be greatly appreciated.

What kind of BS is that? I'd read the warranty closely as regards exclusions, it may in fact exclude top leaks, but not typically on a bumper to bumper.

DO NOT try jury rigging something to fix a roof leak. You have a substantial investment in an '07. It could need a new gasket/seal, or it could be something as simple as a latch adjustment. Regardless, this IS NOT a common problem, and warrants the attention of a professional.

Get the leak issue resolved and then get the radio taken care of immediately, also check all other electronics in the center dash console area. Water and electronics don't mix.
