Default 2004 conv. top will not raise

I am having an issue with my daughters conv. top. The top will not raise. I followed the manuals instr. to manually raise the top; released hydraulic pressure and proceeded to unlock, right hand side would not unlock by pulling string and had to reach down and forcibly unlock.Once the top was up I turned hydraulic pressure back on and the top moved up and down but once put all the way down in locked position the top would not work.I am not a mechanic but as the cpo warranty has just expired I am inclined to make an attempt before going to the dealer.I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

Are the flaps still in the raised position? If so, the F171 Roof Position Switch may be sticking and sending both a closed roof and open roof at the same time. When this happens, the Roof Electronics will not operation the top.

If this is the case, you can push up on the top at the right side and this will get the F171 switch to stop sending an open roof signal. Have a helper flip the switch to close the roof and the top will close on it's own.

Pushing up on the top like that will often "jump start" the top so a second person can operate the switch to close it.

Note that this is the most common issue I've seen, but other factors could be at play here that are not allowing the top to operate.

That exactly worked...I was amazed. How much does that switch cost to replace? Where is it located?
