Default can I run my NBC through a carwash?

the automatic kind like you find at gas stations? It has cloth strips, but I am concerned about hurting it.

I would say that if you have the means to wash it by hand, do it!

I work part time at a car wash that uses the cloth strips, and we hand wash the cars before they enter the wash. Unless they take time to hand wash the car pretty well before going in, there are going to be lots of places that get missed.

If your NBC is really dirty and dont' have the means to hand wash it by yourself...take it to one of those self serve ones and use the high pressure spray to get as much dirt off of it before hand, less scratches that way. I wouldn't recommend using the high pressure spray on the top either.

What he said.

The touchless washes/high-pressure jets can damage the seals around the glass and roof... and also can embed dirt into the fabric. That can cause premature deterioration of the roof.

Plus, hand-washing gets you connected to the car.

I agree with the above. I just wash by hand.

If you have a convertible, the short answer is NO! The longer answer is no, no, no, no, no, no, definitly not.
The amount of water hitting the top, not to mention any mechanical device such as cloth strips, will quickly ruin the top.

I have taken my car to a car wash for just about 2 years. Never have or had a problem. Although Haartz recommends hand washing, its still ok to run through a car wash (as long as it isn't that barrel type.

See this link for more info:

In the owner's manual, VWoA recommends against taking the NBC through automatic car washes. I'd prefer to listen to VWoA versus Haartz (because the former controls the warranty ).

Default well

Being someone that has had there top replaced already.....I have talked to a Tech Advisor at VW and they said that today's tops are made very well, and as long as their protected..Simoniz, Harrtz protectant, or some other synthetic based protectant.....and you don't do it all the time..its fine.

What are you suppose to do when you don't have access to a hose and the rest of your car is in need of a bath. (that is what I asked)
Especially in the winter (salt, and such) The water from a garden hose doesn't usually come out HOT! (or not where I live)
