Default Touch up paint and scratches...

Hi y'all, I just ordered some touch-up paint from the dealership to cover some small chips. Has anyone used it before? I wanted to know if I can use the same thing for scratches... Thanx

I hated the touch up paint I bought from the dealer.

I ended up buying a paint pen, I think it was from http://www.paintscratch.com/paintpen.htm

It's been awhile, so that might not be the place, but its the same concept.

The paint matched perfect and it was easier to apply than the stuff from the dealer.

You can use it on scratches, but most of us have found the paintbrush that comes with the touchup paint completely useless It's just way too thick to apply to scratches. Someone's suggested getting a very fine paintbrush from an art store to do this job instead. If you have a steady hand, it may come out quite well this way. Just don't think it'll be perfect Good luck, and let us know how it turns out

I eventually got over the small cosmetic flaws on my NB.

I realized that nobody but me will ever notice them at a glance and trying to fix them would just make things worse.

The only system I recommend is Touchup 123. It is a lot of work but it's worth it to fix the stone chips on the front of the car, as well as the rear fenders.

As for scratches though, touching them up will only make things worse.

Good luck!

I went to the dealer last week and ordered touch up paint. I was told that VW had 'all' of their touch up paint is now coming as 'touch up pens'.....indeed it came in and was the same as the paintscratch touch up pens...one for the color and another for the clear coat...all for $10.95.......

Default Don't Buy/use Touch-

I paid a little more than that and I used it finally last week. I hope I could go back in time and undo the stupidity I committed. The color is a little darker, so my little chips have become more noticeable. The clearcoat pen is totally useless and the color one was bad, specially the color. Does it have anything to do with the pens being from Audi (sold by my VW dealer).

Oh well, my hood's a mess, I guess I will have to get it painted. Do you guys know how much would it cost aprox. to paint just the hood?

Hmm well there are very fine but big patches of scrathes on the clearcoat on my buggy so I think I might try those clearcot pens p-pod mentioned if they have them at my dealer
hope fully that will work!

I thought i might order a paint pen. Does it dry out? I purchase touch up for my other car and it did this. I kept it in a cool dry area.

Default Touch-up

I was able to purchase both touch-up and clear coat in small arisol cans from the dealer. I've used it on everything but the car body itself for color matching different parts like my steering wheel spokes, Ipod face, and rear tow hook cover. All turned out better than I expected. I do have a few scratches on my bug that can use a quick fix and if I ever decide on spending some time masking this is the way I'll be going.

I first bought paint scratch and the pen was a bit messy. The paint either wouldn't flow, or it would come out in gobs, no matter how long I shook the thing before attempting to apply it. I have a spot inside the car where I used the pen and it's about 4 shades darker.
