Default NEW info. about claybarring..or maybe I'm just behind! :)

I was at a detail shop today and they gave me some great info. about claybarring.

the directions in the FYI: claybar section are correct. They really stressed though that after claybarring, you HAVE TO POLISH THEN WAX. Basically the claybar puts tiny claybar scratches on your car.. The polish buffs them out and gives your car that glass effect. It's really the part that protects yur paint. Then you wax. The wax gives it a clean look and conditions the car. So the process they told me...just to recap...is:

1. Wash down with soap
2. Claybar with water and soap mixture
3. Wash Car
4. Polish Car
5. Wax Car

They recommended using an orbital buffer to apply polish. Not only is it less work on you, but gives it an easy, even coat and gets a better result our of your product....

Just thought I'd pass the info. on...

That's strange. I've been using clay for years and have never noticed any scratches from its use. In fact, just the opposite. It has always left my car looking extremely glossy and smooooth and have always just followed with a wax.

I have used polish after clay but only to remove blemishes, stains and to restore paint. Polishes remove more paint so I only use them when they're needed.

Just went through a wash/clay/wash/polish/AIO x2/ SG x5/p21s wax getting ready for winter. Wow, stunning results!

Either way, I'm a big fan of clay. Leaves your car silky smooth, but most importantly, it removes polutants and metal particles that could rust in your paint.
