Default how do you clean god awful water spots on cloth seats?

Looking for tips on cloth interior on how to clean water spots on cloth seats? How to clean the cloth interior in general? I've seen others complain about them.

I've just used Tuff Stuff. It works well.

I never did find a good way to clean the spots out of my grey cloth seats. The way I finally got rid of them was to have them reupholstered in leather. But that was an expensive way to remove stains.

I had it detailed and got seat covers. I was tired of being so careful with everything!! Even water.

That's what I couldn't believe. The main problem was condensation from bottles that wouldn't fit in the cup holders. I'd have a Sobe between my legs, and the waterspots would never come out! It looked like I had containment issues! But no more! Silver and blue leather don't show watermarks the way cloth does.

Alot more than a container of Tuff Stuff!

I got them heated, as long as they were going down to the cushion. The whole job, with custom color leather, was $1550.

Jacob, you need to remember to go potty before you leave the house!! Seroiusly though, condensation was an issue for me as well as snow/slush. Even though I don't usually get snow on my pants or shirt, it only takes a little. My seat covers from TVA have saved Daisy's seats many times!! If I could redo her seats I'd choose leatherette. My next VW (years away from now!)will NOT have cloth.

Something I didn't know when I was first getting the seats done is that the leather seats aren't all leather, only the seating surfaces are. The rest is pleather! I can't tell looking at them, or even by touch. But I do remember not to condition the other parts.

I hear you Cori! I dont have seat covers, but my dealership will clean my engine, wax the exterior and completely detail my interior for 49.99... I normally do the detailing work myself, but when my seats get too wierd with water marks, the 50 bucks takes care of it, and a few other detailing things

Well worth it, PLUS the dealerships cleaner isnt as wet as other places, so its better for the airbags in the seat and nicer to drive home sitting on

This is my first car without leather, and its my last, I love my beetle, but these cloth seats SUCK

I even tried to get the dealership to clean the seats back when they were stained cloth. Nothing! Not a change! It was frustrating.

Maybe I should have just sprayed water everywhere that wasn't stained already. That could have at least made it uniformly dirty.

Now there's a solution! Bree, I don't know if my dealer does detailing services, but I have had Daisy detailed once at Monty's Meticulous Detailing here in town. I got their signature service, the 'Full Monty' , and they shampoo/rinse/dry the seats and floor. They have a truck mounted system that would probably 'suck the Tin Man right through a key hole'(Tim from Home Improvement said that once!). They were able to get out all the stains on the seats. The carpet was a little damp, that's why I leave Daisy there for a full 8 hours, so she can dry before I get in. Monty's is really good - they clean everything, including the windows. I hate doing the inside of the windshield. It is expensive - $150, but she looks like new when they're done.

Once I get back into profit mode one of these days, I'd like to do something like that. Get a sparkly clean interior! I can do a decent job on my own, but it would be kind of nice to get a professional job done. But I'll probably go somewhere a little closer to my house than Fort Collins.

I knew my dealership detailed only because I asked, a FULL detail for my jetta (with my leather) was 99.99... a GREAT deal, so when I called asking about BB and they said a New Beetle was only 49.95 I was in shock, I called back before my appointment to verify.

... and they make the water stains go away!!! woot woot

I actually removed both seats (grey cloth) and cleaned them both with a water-vac. The only I've found to prevent the staining is (like was already mentioned, actually) to get the ENTIRE seat uniformly wet, the vacuum it evenly. Then hope and pray you don't spill anything on them again.

So, where do you guys with seat covers get them? The generic seat covers I find at most auto/department stores aren't suitable for use with seats that have side airbags.

Thumbs up

I've had excellent luck with VW's All Purpose Cleaner (available at your parts dept.) mixed to the correct dilution with distilled water. Whatever method you use, you must always use distilled water.
