Default Antenna Off In Car Wash?

When you take your New Beetle thru a car wash, do you take the antenna off?

Thanks in advance!

When going through a car wash ... BRUSHLESS ONLY ... I do not take my antenna off. Nothing to damage it.

(Zoomer goes through the car was when it is too darn cold to wash him by hand or when I need a quick rinse from rain or something).

If I were to take my car through a carwash, it would be brushless only so the antenna would not need to come off.

Always check the height of the rails in any carwash to make sure your car has clearance. Our cars are pretty low to the ground. You don't want to drag off something important.

If your only option is a carwash with brushes or the hangy down strips, then you need to take the antenna off.

The car wash is the hang down strips. I'll take it off from now on.

For me, the touch free car wash, doesn't clean off all the road scum. After a touch free you can still take your finger and wipe the body of the thin layer of grime. Most of the stuff comes off, but there is this thin film on the yellow color. Maybe ours isn't that good. It's a brand new one, too.

I do prefer to wash it myself, but it's cold here.

Oh please Tina, don't put your new car through that kind of car wash! It does so much damage to the paint. Here's what I do: every couple weeks, I'll go to Flagship and just hose the car down with the soapy water, usually high pressure on the real dirty areas. It's cold here for a couple months, and although it pains me to see my car dirty all the time...it's better than dragging it through those nasty dirty strips. Put a good coat of wax on before the first snow fall, and you'll be set. You wanna join me at Flagship one day?

I take Daisy to the carwash about once a week Septemberish through Aprilish. I also use the car wash during the summer, but I clean her by hand more. That's the only way to really get the wheels clean. I haven't seen a carwash with the strip things or brushes here in a long time - only brushless. I've never taken the antenna off either. I really like the car wash because it gets the underbody clean and who wants to wash their car in 40 degree weather??? Not me!

Rather have a bit of road scum than paint scratches from rocks and such.

Ok, you've scared me! Only brushless from now on.

Gina, sounds like a plan! We can do lunch and a car wash. PM me.

Thanks!

Red face "Hanging Strips"

I've taken my car through the "hanging strips" kind of car wash many times with zero problems.

It would be great if I could handwash it all the time, but when you live where it's cold, it's impossible to get all of the salt/scum off the car from the touchless car washes.

I agree. I don't do it often but I do go thru the hanging strip kind. The touchless just doesn't cut it around here. I do take the antenna off when I go thru.

I work at a strip carwash

make sure you or the one of the employees take it off. Its easier that way and its better then it getting stuck in something by accident.
