Default Wax over clear bra?

Daisy is getting a major detailing tomorrow! Wash, claybar, wax. I've never used a claybar on her and I didn't really know what I was doing when I attempted a wax the first time last year. So do I claybar and wax over the clear bra? I can call the shop that did the clear bra if I need to.

Thanks

Cori

Cori, I don't see that it would really matter one way or another. I have "clear bra" type material on the bottom front of my rear fenders, and I never wax them. But I don't really have any knowledge on the subject, just assumptions.

I'd default to 'wax it'; and if it clouds up or something, don't do that again.

I'm sure it depends on the wax. (polymer/carnuba/whatever)

Try waxing a small corner of the clear bra before the rest of the car and see how that goes.

The more I think about this, I would think that a vinyl treatment would be better for it. You want to keep it pliable so it will protect, right?

Same stipulation before, though. All I can do is assume.

Thanks for all your responses. I am going to call the shop that did it. The bra has some holes and tears in it so I need an estimate so I can get it replaced. I'll let you know what they say.

Okay I called the shop and the guy said YES a wax is a very good idea. Hopefully I can afford to get it replaced before Roswell.

Well then disregard all that I said earlier. I guess noR knew what he was talking about, yet again.

Thanks for the info!

Thumbs up Wax It !!!

Hey guys. I sell cars for a living, I also sell clear bras as an accessory for the cars. We have even had one guy almost completely wrap his car with the clear bra stuff. Please wax it every time you wax your car. This will protect it from pitting and keep it soft. The guy who installs it for us states that the biggest problem people have with the clear bra is not keeping it waxxed then it will start to collect dust, durt and road grime, which willmake it look discolored or dull. Good luck.

I love the clear bra. It has several tears/holes in it now after 2 1/2 years. I'm getting the hood and mirrors redone before Roswell since I can't afford to have the entire thing redone. It's protected the car on several road trips and I can only imagine what Daisy's front bumper would look like without it. My mom has one on her Lancer which is hopefully getting a claybar and wax this weekend.

You can wax over a clear bra, but it's not going to make it any shinier than it would be if it were just paint. The clear bras are nice for the first few miles, but they're plastic and they take the full abuse that the paint would get, and unfortunately you can't bring a shine back to them.

Daisy's bra has been on since day one and for 35k miles, I think it looks great. I would much rather pay $400 to have it removed and replaced than a couple thousand dollars for a new hood and bumper. The covered part of the front end is just as shiny as the rest of the car, in my opinion anyway.
