Default water won't bead on convertible top

I have a 2006 NBC (platinum gray, black top). The manual says that water should always "bead" on the cloth top, and if it doesn't, that means water can seep through and the top will rot or become damaged.

Water has not beaded on my top since not long after I purchased it. As per the instruction manual, I have never used soap on the top, and several times I have treated it with a protective spray (I use 303 Fabric Guard, purchased from a convertible top intaller). I spray a generous amount, but still, no beading.

Am I doing something wrong? Causing harm to my top?

THanks in advance for any insight.
-Brooke

Thank you! I'll get some of that. The 303 stuff I bought was pretty expensive, so I thought it would work. And it's the stuff they sell at the convertible top shop. But it is clearly not working. Getting some Raggtop this week!

The cheapest way is to get it directly from the maker and shipping was free: http://www.raggtopp.com

RaggTopp is the way to go. Used it several times on my NBC and does a fine job. Note there are two kinds of RaggTopp: one for vinyl and one for cloth tops. Be sure to get the cloth top type.

My box came yesterday, I probably will have to wait to clean and treat on Tuesday. Its too cold and windy today I ordered from the maker like Bill said, ordered it on Wednesday and it arrived yesterday. I am going to use a plastic drop cloth like someone on the org said to do to keep the spray off the car. I got a brush at Target that has a long handle on it.

Great you got Raggtopp. Post pictures after you get your baby looking good.
