Default Cleaning the inside of the windshield

OK, how do you go about reaching the entire windshield on the inside? Any favorite cleaners other than Windex?

My issue is that even at 6' tall, it is one heck of a reach to get the lower corners. thanks for the hints.

I've been using Stoner's Windshield Cleaner and wiping with a micro-fiber towel...

I use a towel or damp chamoise most of the time, with an occasional whipe of isopropyl alchohol.

Window tint safe & 100% streak free wash solution at www.fastautocare.com Just follow the links at the index on the top of the home page. I believe it is under "cleaners and degreasers"

Hope that helps,

I actaully have a small trick... so
BUMP

I spray the whole thing with windex and then squeegee the windshield. there are small car squeegees that you can get at autozone or some place like that and they have a short handle. It actually works way better than paper towels because your not looking all awkward trying to get to the front. it makes it much easier.... plus then you dont get that streaky papertowel marks that you can see when you need to turn on your defrost.

im not crazy! i do it alllll the time! you should all try it!

By the way, I don't get people who drive around with windows that haven't been cleaned for YEARS. How the hell do they see (or, judging by the way they drive, they can't...)???

Simple Green glass cleaner and coffee filters. Coffee filters leave nothing behind, they're made so you don't get paper dust in your coffee and they don't leave any dust or streaks on the windshield either.

Just be careful when cleaning the inside of the windshield not to accidentally touch or even slightly bump your inside rear view mirror. It will snap off!

Maybe on a Vert. The tintop NB's have one of the most solid rearview mirrors I've ever seen.

Ooooo I love this thread. So many great ideas. I use coffee filters to clean the pastry case at Starbucks... never occured to me to use them IN my car! Totally makes sense though.

Stoner invisible glass (aerosol spray) is what I use for the exterior glass... it is amazing and works really well even in the hot summer sun... it is COMPLETELY streak free and because it is aerosol it stays where you spray it)

But sadly, I shy from spraying things inside Elpheba... so I have been using a microfibre cloth and hot water with a bit of vinegar... sounds weird but it does the trick... now if only someone could invent a device that would save my arm and body from having to contort into the most ungodly positions to reach all the corners and areas of the inner windscreen. That would be super.

Regardless which product you use, don't forget to use microfiber towels. An all purpose microfiber towel is good enough (not the cheap ones from Kragen / Autozone). You can tell the difference if you fold it in half. The good ones are plusher than the cheap ones because of the weave. That plushness will help your cleaning product take off the filmy residue on the windows better than anything.

Side note: An option to remove the grittiness on the outside is to use a clay bar.

Thought it was deja-vu. Saw a similar thread in the paint & body sub-forum.
