Default Water Spots Water Spots... *drip*

So I live in the arizona desert... Very dry, very HOT place.
I try to wash my car when the sun is still out, but near sunset or evening so I can SEE what I'm doing, but the car won't dry right away. I can NEVER seem to dry the car in time before I start to get water spots, especially on the windows.

Just wondering how everyone else does their whole "wash n wax" process or what they might use to dry their car?

I dry "Bobby" with a shammy and also use this ICE detail stuff that just shines up his paint but does not have any wax... It takes of the spots pretty well but it's not always fun or quick to apply. Any ideas???

*brainstorming!* Any input appreciated!

The water up here in K-town is horrible for spots also. I use the chamois to dry either buggies directly after washing. If there are spots on the windows I use 0000 steel wool and a foam ing window cleaner.

Along with trying to never wash in the sun, you should let the hose water run freely when you're finished - it will sheet off most of the excess water and reduce water spots. Like, I'm not sure if you have a nozzle on the hose, but if so you just take that off - that's what I meant by "run freely", I'm not sure how else to describe it haha

I hate water spots, so I use one of those Mr. Clean car wash sprayer thingies with the filter in it. I use it just to rinse the car off, because the filter removes all the minerals and such out of the water, I think they call it deionization, or some such thing. It works though.

I don't have many issues washing / drying the Beetle, but I do with the A3 since it's a very dark color.

Normally, if it's not bad, I hose off the car, sponge it all down, then rinse.

When it's real hot, I only do sections at a time to keep the soap from drying. While I'm doing the other sections, I keep hosing the sections I've already cleaned, just to keep them wet.

Once done, I go ahead and dry it off, starting with those sections that are facing the sun and drying faster.

Also, since you said the main area you're having trouble with is your windows, wouldn't hurt to just clean them with window cleaner once done washing / drying the rest of the vehicle. Voila!

Yup, I do what Pete does. Never wash your car in the sun or when the car has been driven either. The heat from the engine causes water spots too.

When I'm finished washing, I always hose the car down one more time and then just use a big bath towel to dry it, drying the windows first. I never have water spots.

I also get water drops everytime I wash the car. To remove them I usually use a slightly whetened window leather (guys watch it - don't use ur wife's or girlfriend's cleaning leather - they might act rude - trust me )
and wipe over the car once, starting at the roof. No more stains Also possible is using a slightly whetened towel to "re-wet" the car and then use the meguiars magic towel thingy to suck off the water... A big plus on the meguiars thing is - no risk of making any scratches in your paint as it doesn't "brake" on the paint like the leather does
