Question Preloved, and left with pet hair...

I have had my Dizzy Bug for 2 years now, and I've tried a number of things to remove the previous owners animal hair.[ That seems to have almost fuzed its self to the carpet.] Does anyone know any tips to getting my bugs floor de-hairy?

While I haven't had this problem with my New Beetle, I remember it well from when a relative owned a 1971 Karmann Ghia. The solution was to use some inexpensive duct tape. The process uesd was:
  1. Wrap the tape around your hand one with sticky side out.
Use the exposed tape as a blotter and apply it to the carpet and pull away -- the fur should adhere to the tape as well as any other loose material
Repeat until the fur is transferred to the tape.
Replace the tape as the adhesive weakens.

Good luck with your project!

Kevin

just think of it as another pet

there's a new pet hair remover thing i saw on TV (yeah, that's helpful, huh?) it's a little pod you hold and swipe across furniture and carpet and it grabs it and sweeps it in. i'm sure it's something you'd find in the cleaning section at target or wal-mart, near the sticky lint rollers.

having a long haired cat though, and knowing how pet hair works... if you've had it for two years and you're STILL finding hair, there's not going to be an easy way to get rid of it. all the "surface" hair is long gone, it's the hidden ones that will pop up now and then.

I agree with the duct tape. My lab shed like crazy and it would stick to the interior of my Explorer. I would fold the seats down and find it. It takes time my the tape method works pretty well along with a lint roller. Good luck.

Tape really does work best, especially for those short snout hairs. Tatey snout hairs literally embed into everything. Sigh. I'm not getting rid of either my dog or my bug.
