Default Lovebugs in Florida

Is there a way to reverse the damage from those darn lovebugs? I had the car detailed and they claybared it, but could not get the lovebug marks off.

I use my wash mitt, I don't have many issues with them. But if a detailer can't get them off, then they must be doing something wrong.

Default Here's an idea...

I know this is an older thread, but I just noticed it and had to chime in --
I know this will sound strange, but use a wet dryer sheet to get 'em off. Lovebugs are the worst for any paint job and I was at my wits end trying to scrub the guts off every couple days during the seasonal onslaught. Someone on TV mentioned it (forgot where I saw it or whom it was) so I gave it a shot.
And it worked!
Here's the best part: Will not scratch and I didn't even crack a sweat.
Just take your average run-of-the-mill dryer sheet and wet it down, apply to affected areas with a little rubbing, and - TADA! - our dearly departed little friends vanish, then rinse it all off.
So simple even a caveman can do it

Einszett bug remover - spray it on;; let sit for a few;
wash off. MS has love bugs and I was washing my Bug
everyday after work.

Bug and Tar Remover - einszett Car Care Products

The best defense is a good coat of wax, very recently applied;
clean the little devils off ASAP (don't let them stay on
overnight).

I use Griot's Speed Shine and a cotton cloth to remove them when
I can't wash the Bug right away. Works great.

The nice thing about the Einszett is that it does NOT remove
the wax.

Cheers!

M'EFFIN lovebugs!
When I lived in Florida, what I did was leave the hose and sprayer hooked up and laying near the driveway. Everyday I made a ritual of turning on the water and hosing the bugs down. You don't have to get them completely off. Just spraying the water on them seemed to do a good enough job of neutralizing there body acids that eat into the clear coat.

I got tired of that and put a bra on the car when the LB's were at there worse.

as mentioned, once they eat into the clear coat, its game over.
If you want a cheap way out is to go have a 3M clearbra installed. This will cover those minor blemishes and protect to front end in the future.

Default Love bug eraser

I've been populating forums because I hate these things- Love Bugs. I love my truck and just hate to drive when these things come out. So I was goofing off on Facebook and came across this guy in JAX who sold these things called Love Bug Erasers. For the name alone, I was cynical, but it was like $5, so WTH.

Actually worked, but it could be a bit bulkier. Maybe fold it over, IDK. Used it on my kayak later, too. It seems like a basic sponge but more durable. Was a bit rough, so I was skeptical, but it actually did soften up- used it on the plastic wells first.

Pretty stoked on it actually.

facebook.com/lovebugeraser.

Good luck.
