Default How dirty is too dirty?

Im kind of a freak about keeping my bug clean as a whistle,
from the inside out.

Theres not an accessible square inch i dont clean, engine, trans, undercarriage,
under/sides of the seats,i even clean the bugs off the radiator,as well as beating out the floormats every friggin' day..

I do this every week,sometimes twice,im beginning to think i have OCD,not a joke.

When does your bug get 'too' dirty? How dirty is too dirty?

(I even remove the headlights to get the dust out from behind them,on occasion)

I do a major wash and vac once a month but, I generally wash every 2 weeks or so.
Don't feel bad about the headlight thing. I do the exact same thing.
It's all about TLC.

I wish I had more time to clean my car. I use the self-serve bay at the car wash about once a week and the touchless automatic during the winter to get the salt and mag chloride off. I am planning a very thorough wash, wax, detail next weekend. Any amount of bird poo gets washed off ASAP. Unfortunately I have had to transport 1 dog and a few kids but it wasn't too bad. My driver's Monster Mat is dirty so it's soaking in cleaner and water right now!!

Monty got his first wash since I acquired him sometime last week. He was purchased in November, and was not ran since March 09. He told me what he thought of baths by losing some clearcoat.

I try to clean my bug at least once every other week if I can. But with the weather slowly becoming nicer I at least spray him down every week, assuming there isn't rain predicted the following day. I'm a little behind on the cleaning now, but that's because we've been getting so much rain and it got a little cold for the last week. However, Psyduck should hopefully be getting another bath next week!

...the interior differs, I just know currently I need to clean the inside. I called my interior "dirty" after my coworker made a comment about how nice it is to sit in a clean car. I was like "this is considered dirty for me... see that dust? yeah. Dirty!"

once i invest in a California Duster...my car will NEVER be dirty!! My waterless carwash has been a great way for me to do touch ups atleast once a week without having to go to the carwash ALL the time! I still do a normal carwash once a month or so. I'm kinda a fanatic too. When my car gets washed, its not just a wash. It's a wash and detail! Back to black for the trim. Tire shine and wheel cleaner. Everything but wax (cause I really suck at that!)!!

No worries, those with OCD....have clean cars! haha

Now when it comes to my interior.....hehe....if ONLY I could keep that as clean as the exterior!!!

Haven't washed my bug since January. I don't have the time or money to do it as often as all of you.

Honestly check out my waterless carwash in my sig. Takes all of 15 mins and a microfiber towel. SUPER easy...SUPER fast...and you can do it anytime! $20 will get you like....20+ washes. Try that at a regular car wash! :P $1 a wash...yeah..I can do that.

I don't wash my car that often. I mean, My husband rinses it off when he does the rest of the cars but, a full on wash.. maybe once a month. I have been trying lately to keep the inside trash-free. but, depending on how busy i am or my mood depends on how clean my car is.

As much as it's tempting to drive with the windows down on a nice day and listen to the sound of your motor and turbo I try avoiding this to minimize interior dust so I don't have to detail as often

I tend to do a "super interior detailing" (vaccum carpets, clean dust off plastics and clean the leather surfaces) about once a month depending on the VW shows I enter. I only dust off the dash in the winter when it starts looking gross (when you can write "clean me" with your finger lol).

Waxing happens about 3-4 times/year. Clay barring 1x/year. Looking into this

I wash my bug once every two weeks or less in the nice weather or immediately whenever a bird decides to use it for target practice.

Washes happen every day or two in the winter (I get one of those season passes) since we have alot of salt on the roads up here I don't want it building up on the car.

I do a wash once a week to include: Wash,Dry,Detail spray and wipe down exterior with a microfiber cloth, Vac inside, Clean tires and wheels and shine tires, Wipe down all interior, wash windows and armor all the bra (I know voids bra warranty but I HATE a dull bra). I also do what we called in the Army a PMCS (Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services) I check all fluids, The tires to include inflation, Look underneath for any signs of leaks, All lights and signals to make sure they work properly and every two months I rotate the tires. I keep a logbook of this maintenance I have done this since I bought Rosie new in 99 and contribute her running smooth to this. If I was to ever sell her (In your dreams or my nightmares) the new owner would have a record of every time she has ever been touched. Dates of new tires added, Dates and mileage of every oil change, Dates and bills from WPTB changes (Yes twice now) even when I fixed the carrier linkage and every time I have changed a bulb or did a tuneup. My God, I didn't realize how bad I was until just now Now in the winter is when I have to cut back on the washes I wash her at the car wash (cringes) once every two weeks and no other detailing except vacuuming the inside. The PMCS still gets done however Once a week like clockwork. Keep on cleaning, I'm sure your bug appreciates it and will give you many years of service because of it. Now, I wonder how many bugs are in my radiator

Yea but none of those are new beetles, and none of them look as nice as the paint as 70Autostick has. My 65 that I owned for 20+ years was painted the same way, I eventually painted it white. Loved the black and yellow paint kinda reminded me of a Taxi or a bumblebee. Anyway the paint brought back memories.
