I started cleaning my wheels today. First I sprayed some degreaser(the product that I'm using is called Green Essentials)on the wheels. I let it soak in a little bit, then I used an old toothbrush to scrub the heavy deposits. I continued this process until most of the brake dust was gone. Then I used some Blue Magic metal polish to remove most of the rest of the brake dust. It took about 45 min. per wheel, but the wheels look quite a bit better than they did before. Here are before and after pics:

Wow, that looks great!

All of my wheels are perfect except for the passenger front. After several acid buster treatments by the dealer (free) a lot came off. Once the weather clears up (snow!) I'll probably take it back or used what you did.

I've only done the wheels on the passenger side so far. The next time that the weather is above freezing here, and I have some free time, I'm going to start on the drivers' side.

I painted my wheels pink and black cause the build up of corrosion was just horrible, i sanded it down and painted away. It looks good.

That's a big car devalue. I personally wouldn't do this.

I have used Akebono ceramic pads. Very little dust and it is a light gray in color what does come off them. Used to have to wash the wheels twice a week. Not anymore. twice a month when I wash the car and the wheels practically rinse off what little is there. Stop just as good and they are "not" supposed to wear out the rotors. By the way use the rotors with anti rust on the hub/centers so you don't have to look at the ugly rusted ones that don't have it.

Like I said, when I get around to changing the pads (y'know, when they wear out) I'll be switching to ceramic.

I had ceramic pads on my mustang, they squealed a lot.
