Hi everyone,

I REALLY want my Beetle to shine, like glare a sun ray across the country. Any product suggestions?

Thanks!

The methods you use are just as important as the brands of products. HAND Wash with soap made for autos (not dish soap)with a microfiber mitt. Followed by clay barring (gets rid of everything that gets embedded in your paint). And if you want a super nice shine with no swirl marks or scratches, use a DA (dual action) polisher like the one Maguiars sells following their recommended pads and polishes. I use a quick detailer spray at the end to remove all the excess wax and polish with a microfiber towel.=B-E-A-U-T-I-FUL!

In the past, my favorite combination was Meguiars Mirror Glaze #7 and then Meguiars Gold Class Carnauba Liquid Wax. The paint would look so deep you felt you could dive right in. I use to perform the following steps.

Wash
Clay
Wash again
Dry
Glaze
Wax

This will be about a 2 hour job. But when you are done, your black paint will look like it is “wet”. I have since moved to synthetic wax/sealants because of “ease of use”. My arms would usually be completely dead after using the glaze/wax. But for “shows” I would do my corvette in those steps with those products. For normal use, I use Meguiars NXT (wax) with Zaino Clear Seal (sealant). That would usually be about a 45-60 minute job versus 2 hours.

Two Words: Clay Bar. It made my 2003 Turbo S, bought by me in 2007, look brand new! (I thought it looked good before!)

Wash, don't wax. Clay bar will remove it. After the clay bar, then wax. Your towel will sliiiide off the fender. Ahhhhhh....

But, it you drop the clay, it's toast. Be careful.

That's great info, really appreciated. Do you use Meguiars Clay Bar?

All clay bars are relatively the same. But yes, I use Meguiars clay bar. I like it cause you get 2 bars in this nice little plastic box for storage.
